Why wouldn't friends warn friends that they might be left hanging by a company after spending (in some cases) many hundreds of dollars. By that logic you cannot recommend any product to some one who has never worked with company that make's it, because by your logic they have no experience with the company and they shouldn't be allowed to form an opinion until after they get ripped off. At that point new comer's to the PC hobby cannot ask advice on "what *insert product here* should I get?" in threads. I bet you have recommended products to people based on your personal experience's when they have no experience with said company. By that logic Andatech (and other's like them) should not be making their opinions about new products available.

Members and friends can make their own decision whether they want to buy from EK, I'm just not going to recommend a company who treats it's customers badly period! EK has damaged their reputation because of all the nickel plating issues and how they blamed their paying customers, that's bad business. That's just me though, my 2 cents.

Now you're making even less sense. in one post you say that people shouldn't make a judgement of a company they have no personal experience with. Then you go and say the above statement..... make up your mind!
According to your other post you shouldn't be giving people advise to steer away from EK, instead your first post sounds more like they shouldn't judge a company until after they get screwed over... confusing logic is confusing.

I have bought alot of EK stuff in the past currently I have three EK blocks. I'm taking note of all of this. I don't want to end up with some dead blocks from a waterblock company that is blaming water for a problem.

My suggestion would be to drain the system occasionally and check the GPU blocks for any issue. If they are working for you, great. If you start noticing fading or chipping or corrosion, according to EK either change your fluid or it's not their fault.

As for EK support when dealing with them ive never had a problem. Shame 1 person can cry wolf and many jump on the band wagon. How many blocks to do they sell and what is the fail rate, bet its not that high.
At the end of the day you get what you pay for and if you want "Cheap" blocks then thats what your going to get. It amazes me how they get there prices down for low to be honest. I still remember when GPU blocks would set you back £100 + now they are £60 to £70 and they are plated as well.

Considering how much I love my dye's, the only thing I can add to this thread is that, I personally, have had issues with EK in the past.

Eddy seems to be very volatile...I'd direct you to the PTnuke thread but, unfortunately, you'll basically read 50 pages just to find how outlandish his claims is/were/are...And, I quite frankly, see it as incredibly bad PR for Eddy, deserved or not so, google it if you'd like to read it.

My experiences with Eddy have been hit or miss, especially when I was with Alienware...

Only ever used distilled + PTnuke and when I had issues, sometimes it was an amazing experience, other times it was absolutely horrific...Maybe I was dealing with multiple people VIA their support email...Who knows but, it was enough that I no longer buy their product.

The last experience I had with EK, I actually had purchased 5 nickel blocks for the office...3 ended up with real corrosion...I was told at the time they wouldn't be covered, point blank because I had used a "coolant" that was not approved...There was no room for discussion...I was really taken aback with what was said.

Now, as a company owner, I can't take a risk on my customer's products being covered or not, there needs to be a solid yes or no...I never had that with Eddy.

I now only buy Watercool...And while it does take a little longer in every single aspect of "the game"...I know where I stand 24/7/365 and I can't put a price on that.

A well thought out and contsructive post Masked, and to those saying he bought it second hand, he got a friend to purchase for him as it was not available where he lives, would be exactly the same as if it was a gift, if he is the only user of the product from out of the box it should be covered by warranty.
