What Blizzard does here does not constitute as DRM imho. It is not like the case of Ubisoft where they made always on DRM for strictly SP games. D3 is an online multiplayer game that offers SP offline. Now can they eventually get around that, perhaps. However, with these things taking place on the server side, it is a lot easier for Blizzard to combat and in the worst case scenario, roll back. For those of you arguing about how D1 and D2 had offline SP player games, try using your brain (you know that organ between your ears that so many seem to have forgotten exists) and remember the internet connections available at the time. Nowadays, the vast majority of gamers that are interested in playing D3 have high speed internet. I have faith as well that Blizzard WILL fix their server issues soon.

The lag is caused by the server issue that I mentioned earlier...You actually play the game on their servers...Which, they're working to fix...Diligently.

I'm not saying anyone's expectations in regards to playing the game are unreasonable...I'm saying, they deserve credit for their diligence but, receive none...

They added millions of dollars worth of servers when the pre-order numbers came through and the game was 5x as successful as they predicted...They've made the necessary steps since, to speed up the network and they've made a noticable difference.

That being said, NONE of the above was a secret...Since first Alpha it was leaked that the game would be on-line only, that was nearly a year and 8/9 months ago...If you didn't want on-line DRM you were dutifully informed it existed and could have made the choice not to purchase the game...

Plus that, this isn't that much backlash...I hate to break it to you but, having seen the numbers and considering only the fact that @ 10% really complained openly about the DRM issues...Yeah, negligible loss...I'm just speaking in terms of sheer numbers...You've already paid for the game, can't return it because of the serial...That 10% honestly, means nothing.

Again, you had over a year with this knowledge...Could have spent that 60$ wherever you pleased...

D3 is not an MMO - therefor all of this online crap is DRM.

Considering internet access today versus yonder-year- why did we take a primarily single player game and make it into a quasi-mmo?

It does not make sense to me, and they lost a customer because of it.

Shame really. Not like my wallet actually matters though, with millions of paying customers.

buying a game and not understanding the requirements to play it is not the developers fault.

and if by backlash you mean selling a ton of copies while internet trolls blow up metacritic, i don't think they care.

like i've said in this thread a bunch, the loudest complaints are from people who haven't played it and will not play it who use other people's obviously limited opinions of the game as ammo to use on forums and sites like metacritic.

that's not real backlash, that's trolling.

Still loving it so far, but I think when people refer to it not feeling the same as d2 (myself included) mean that it doesn't feel as dark and clostrophobic as the second one which I loved personally.
Other than that it is a great step up.

i hadn't read about the people complaining that the game was too bright and cheery until recently, and i laughed because that whole chamber underneath the mansion in act I is a little dark.
