D2 at the tail end of its evolution was considered more mmorpg-ish due to how the vast majority preferred to play it. D1 was made in a time where most people were still on dial up and such. Buying D3 to play SP is like buying CSS to play SP.

You'll see me around complaining that SP campaigns have gotten cut at the ham-strings too, but I've played too many short games with difficulty replays (ninja gaidan, mw/mw2/BloPs, dmc, ff, ect ,d2, d2:lod. ME 1/2) for this game to be a contender for that particular complaint

Finishing and mastering are two different things to me. I don't necessarily count extra difficulty modes as "content", but it does make the game a lot more replayable to me. And when I finally master my Wizard, I can go and try to do the same with another class.

The plot was rather short for sure, but I didn't really buy the game for plot. It's just fun to play.

everyone has a certain goal when the sit down to play a game. Finished/Complete to one person does not mean the same thing, to the next. I am playing diablo because i would like to play through the extended difficulties. Therefore, the game will not be finished, for me, until i am rolling through Inferno... EEK!
