Hey guys, not sure where to post this but I figure home audio is somewhat close, when you consider your boat your 2nd home....
Alright, so im pretty sure we damaged the JL audio sub that we have in the boat right now. It's a marine rated sub.
It's basically this:
JL Audio M10IB5

Now, we're looking to replace it since when its at low volume there's a rattling noise coming from it...
I heard that your just fine using a car sub as long as you either build an enclosure for it if its not rated for free-air applications or, its rated for free-air but has a poly voice coil....
This is the sub we're looking at getting:
Alpine SWR-1023D

It says this in the details:
Cone Material: Kevlar Reinforced Pulp
Surround Material: Santoprene Rubber
Is this Kevlar Reinforced Pulp a fiber/paper based cone or is it some type of poly material?
We're just trying to figure out if this would be suitable for a "wet" environment like on the boat. It says it needs a .75cu.ft. enclosure so we're prepared to build a nice fiberglass enclosure where the sub would go.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks!
