Quick Noob Question - 2133Mhz RAM in 1333Mhz Max Board.

Thread Starter
Noobish question here ^^
  • I'm planning to move up to AMD trinity in august
  • For now I'm buying a FM1/1155 board which may only support 1866, or even 1333mhz.
  • If I buy 2133MHz 1.5v G.Skill RAM will they auto downclock?

The RAM is for my upcoming trinity build which supports 2133Mhz.

All RAM has an SPD programmed boot frequency setting typically below the advertised Max rated RAM frequency. 1066 Mhz. or 1333 Mhz. for DDR3 is pretty standard so YES this RAM should boot properly and leave you room to try OC'ing it as you desire.

See my thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1256849/need-some-advice-amd-llano-a8-3870k-and-2133mhz-memory-question thumb.gif There are very helpful replies in it so check it out.

Also, I think Trinity apu's will have a different socket so they will not be compatible with FM1 motherboards.
