What is the difference between these 2 and is the price difference worth it? Im going 7970 Ive never had a top of the line card always ok/good cards just want to get it out of my system. 7950 out of picture now

The HD 7870 is no match for a HD 7950 OC or a HD 7970 OC. You should be able to push all these cards to 1150 -1200. HD 7870 will be manhandled by the HD 7900 cards. HD 7900 cards can handle any game maxed out at 2560 x 1600. You don't really need Crossfire.

what is your current card? if its the xfx black edition 6850 you mentioned before, get the 7970 or 7950.

You might not be content with the change from 6850 to 7870. I know I wouldnt.
