Help me find a good wireless keyboard and mouse

Hi,

I have just built myself a new pc, with a red and black theme throughout (maximus board, red leds, red led fans and black case). All I am missing now is a good keyboard and mouse. Currently I have a £5 usb keyboard and a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000, but would like to upgrade for 2 reasons.

First the keyboard is a random one I found and is deafening and hard to type on.

Second, the mouse has an auto on feature, once you remove the usb dongle, which was fine for a laptop, but for my pc I would like the adapter always plugged in, and a power switch on the mouse and keyboard itself.

I need wireless due to the setup I have, wired is an absolute nightmare to use as i need 2 or 3 extensions to get the distance.

I would like red illumination to fit the theme, but I realise this is probably a big ask, as I am struggling to find anything that fits the requirements.

I would also like to have a desktop set, so there is only one usb adapter as opposed to two to save space at the back of the pc.

A priority is quietness, been looking at a nexus silent mouse, but not found a keyboard yet.

It wont be used for gaming really, nothing like battlefield or call of duty, i prefer using a ps3, or xbox controller with my pc, cant deal with keyboard gaming.

Anyone got any ideas? Budget is £50 approx $80 for both. Cheapness is preferred, 50 is a maximum for something awesome.

2 Issues, first not available in the UK, would have to import a US version, second, the mouse has a "frictionless" scroll wheel, which is my issue with my current one, it scrolls way to easily

The mouse actually has a switch on the bottom to switch between "frictionless" scroll wheel and click-to-click scroll.

The replacement to the mk700, the mk710, has a slightly better mouse (scroll switch on top, on/off switch on bottom). Unfortunately, the mk710 is much more expensive in the UK and out of your budget.

My suggestion is that you get
k270 keyboard
and
m705 mouse

Which can use the same receiver (logitech unifying)
£53

Some issues you may have:
  • slightly overbudget,
  • mouse is somewhat clicky
  • unifying receiver isn't very good when it has to work through many objects (won't work great plugged into the back of your desktop). You may need to purchase a usb extender if you want consistent wireless performance.

Another option

Thanks for your suggestions. I decided to go with the m705 mouse, because it seems to have good reviews and looks pretty good. Opted for a K340 wireless keyboard though, was more expensive but looks better IMO
