Rock Heaven Your Hardest!!! (All Kepler Users) - Page 13

I haven't been reading any reviews on the 670s but is it seriously getting higher scores than a 680?
Is this driver issues or how the cards were made?

This is my score
338

I'm building a computer for a buddy in 2 weeks, I really am considering going with 670s...

The 680 will be 0-14% faster at equal clocks than the 670, depending on how shader-limited the test (i.e. what game/bench) you run is. On average, across all tests, at equal clocks, I'd guess the 680 would prove to around 7% faster.

This is, however, often mitigated by overclocking. Although it's by no means the case that 670's are always faster than 680's, there are most certainly some people who have 670's that are faster than some other people's 680's, simply by virtue of the fact that a 670 that OC's very well is going to be faster than a 680 that's a poor OC'er, particularly on tests that aren't particularly shader-limited.

7% faster for good or can these some how change in performance with drivers?

Unlikely to change with drivers because the two cards are basically identical aside from a disabled cluster in the GPU core on the 670. Any improvements to drivers would impact both cards the same way, IOW.

And like I say, 7% is just my guess as to what the average perf difference would be across all possible tests, assuming equal clocks. So to say it's 'for good' in any universal sense would not be accurate.

2xASUS TOP 670's
Clock at +10, top card is ~1320 max, bottom ~1250.
+400 mem
115% power

I wish I could get better temps. It's hot in NC, and I can't fit a side fan on. This was with a 1-1 fan curve though. I made it a little more aggressive after 60C. Might look into that silly arctic cooling water kit smile.gif.

Not that there are a lot of 680s on this thread yet but this seems to be the fastest 680 to date. thumb.gif

I can't capture the image while Unigine is running for some reason as it just shows up black. This is a run with my GTX 680 @ 1215/3305.
