Rock Heaven Your Hardest!!! (All Kepler Users) - Page 18

Thread Starter
In addition to what Light's said, I also think this particular test is less shader-count limited than some other tests would be.

I actually think that the 8xAA is the 'equalizer' here, placing a significant amount of the total burden onto the memory subsystem (corroborated by the fact that memory OC's seem to really help on this test) ... and both cards have the same memory subsystem, so ... 670 and 680 score more similarly here than they might otherwise.

For example in 3dMark11 GPU score, the 680 distances itself better from the 670 than it does in Heaven. Usually the 3dMark tests are quite shader-bound.

Here's some fairly average results if it makes you feel any better!

338

Can only get +97 core and +515 memory stable, giving 1215 Mhz max boost and 7038 Mhz memory.

Bizarrely my power usage never goes above 69.1%, even with power target at 111%. Seems like it should OC more but if I give it any more core then I'm getting random crashes, any more memory I get artifacts in BF3. Have left power target at 100% now as it seems to make no difference.

Not too unhappy with that score though considering I seem to be about the only person on here with such an old CPU!

Here you go, I could probably squeeze a little further on core to pass a bench but not stable. I think this is my true boost stable max. Still working that memory.

These are my day to day setting at the moment. Can make it pass higher and memory still needs to be maxed. Not bad but not the best, especially considering how high some of y'all are hitting with 670s. I know in some tests the 680s oc are still passing up the 670s like bf3, but I wish I would have saved some cash at this point in time.

My EVGA FTW OC is 1253 Max Boost and 1815 (3629) on the memory! Haven't seen temps go over 65C with the fan at ~60-70% average playing BF3 @ 1080P Ultra Preset. I can't hear my fan unless it hits 70% (rare, and it's been hot) and even then my Kuhler 920 CPU loop is still louder. Love it! biggrin.gif

This was my first run with my max OC... if I run it again later and get a higher score I'll post it, but I'm very impressed and happy with my score thumb.gif I'm sure I can go higher and pass the bench, but this is stable though hours and hours of gaming biggrin.gif

Is that your mem max on that dc2t or is that just as far as you have pushed it?

I didn't hit the wall, anyhow i can push it up to 13XX/70XX @ 1.175 altho the gain even at 4.2 Ghz is not really worth the extra heat.
So, daily usage @ very mild setting. Been trying some combo, and yet that was mine sweet spot.

I kinda wish I would have waited for the top, I got the dc2o and 1285 is my breaking point, so I backed it down to 1275, which is 100% stable, my mem though is sitting at +540 or +550 (might go higher) right now and didn't really increase the heat. I ramped up my fan a tiny bit faster though to where at 50c it's 60% , 60c 70% but I never really past the 60c mark benching and 52c in bf3. Was curious to see how far and at what temps the top would go. Towards the mid gen when if at all new unlocked voltages come out I might swap.

Edit: oh and if your not going to go up over 1300 I'll trade you biggrin.gif
