I tried 1080p, but my unigine won't let me. My monitor doesn't support more frown.gif

Nothing astounding, but a damn sight better than the dog I received the first time out (maxed at ~48fps OC'd mad.gif ) Much happier now that I'm striking within ~2fps of you other guys, but hit a wall of diminishing returns and absolutely cannot get one hair past 52 fps artifact free...thanks for the fearful symmetry EVGA GTX 670 FTW.

Great score, Toolio, and welcome to OCN thumb.gif It'd be cool if you shared the actual core clock you're hitting there ... the offset alone doesn't tell us anything redface.gif

Here's my latest run, been a few driver releases since I started the thread, plus I've gotten real familiar w/my card and how to make it do it's best on this benchmark ...

Clocks are in the screenshot here ...

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm totally not envious of your score hmmsmiley02.gif

I'll be frank, I have absolutely no idea what you mean by core clock. Your Heaven screen shows the GPU running at 1354 MHz (holy crap!!!) - based on your comment am I to infer that value is what you're looking for? If so, I'm running a paltry 1270MHz and it's strange - I can get up to 1290 but my benchmarks (scores and fluidity) are significantly improved if I ease back off the core and crank the memory offset. Seems almost counter-intuitive to run at a lower speed but I can't argue with the performance I'm getting (the first card I had puked out of Heaven at anything over 1249MHz with a MAX score of 48fps).

One thing's bugging me, though - I've got a miserable mobo (ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3, 4+1 phase VRM) which has utterly hobbled my CPU OC; I can't help but wonder if it's limiting the GPU as well. Will bench Heaven and 3DMark tomorrow on a different board and see what happens. Fingers x'd, and congrats on bagging such an epic card. 1354...fuuuuuuuuuuuuudge.

That was indeed the value I was asking about, the actual core clock when running the test, like you see in my screenshot. You must've had a hefty memory overclock to be able to score that high with the core at 1270 thumb.gif

Oh, and if you like the last one, check this one out ... look at the core clock in the graphs ...

375

Not stable for Heaven, but it'll pass a run of 3dMark11 at these clocks ...

I don't want to go OT but I'm in a bind with this card. Long story. This is going to sound really weird, but could you tell me what your bone-idle temp is OC'd, and what it rises to when you open an instance of Solitaire (yes, the game included with Windows)?

You can probably see where this is heading...I sit idle at about 35 degrees but jump to 54 degrees when I open Solitaire (on STOCK settings, too). And despite scoring OKish in Heaven and 3dMark11 (10450 graphics) my fan has to max out in order to keep temps below 70 degrees (and just barely, 67 degrees). How does your card behave when you're doing these runs?

Pretty sure despite the acceptable performance I still wound up with another dog of a card...f'n EVGA. Anyway, thanks in advance for any feedback...

My vanilla 680 (same cooler as yours) Maxed out around the mid 60's but had trouble staying below 70 on a hot day.

What is your ambient temp? Meaning the temp of your room. And how is your case air flow. These two things play a huge factor in your gpu temps.

Hey, thanks for the reply - I'm fully tracking the impact of both ambient temps and case air flow.

Case airflow is solid - could almost be called chilly, and while the first card I had was an all around dud it did run acceptably cool/quiet in the same setup so I feel confident this is NOT the issue.

I actually tested the card in an environment with high ambient temps (roughly 87 degrees), and even though it managed to stay sub 70 degrees (cue Bill and Ted, 69) this of course was in hair-dryer mode pretty much the whole time, and with a lower OC. That said, my regular environment stays a steady 68 degrees and its here where I'm pulling these ridiculous temps with the new card.

Called 3VGA, they fessed up that 50-plus in Solitaire was "a bit" warm. I lol'd. Third card arrives today, and if it's not the charm, well...I'm open to suggestions for a replacement. Will post Heaven results. BTW how loud is your 680 maxed? Is the fan running balls to the wall or do you still have an acceptable aural profile?

I don't have it any more. I was able to keep it at a reasonable level and still maintain under 70c for the most part.

When I had it I thought it was pretty quiet for a reference card. Which it is. But after having the Gigabyte WF 670 and the Asus DCII 670 in the same system I know what quiet is. After having the 670's in I tried the 680 for a bit and realized how loud it was. I love evga. But with the cooling on the GB and Asus cards being so damn good imo they are the only way to go.
