Hey guys, I've been running 3 5850's for a while now on my MSI big bang fuzion without any problems but today my computer shut off randomly and wouldn't turn back on.
When I opened to investigate and I unplugged the 24pin from the motherboard (which took a lot of force), pins 10 and 11 (which supply the +12V to the PCI-E slots were melted into the 24pin on my motherboard.
I did some research and found that it is most likely due to the pci-e drawing too much power from the 24pin slot. I'll be getting a new power supply and the EVGA powerboost thing for sure.
However, my question is, do I have to rma my board? I've read many stories similar to mine where the motherboard is still perfectly fine after cleaning up the melted plastic. I have a 450W Thermaltake psu laying around that I'm wiling. But i am having trouble cleaning the 2 pin connectors. What kind of tool should I use?
