Which to me is all irrelevant anyway because the gaming performance is terrible on both.

In this thread you're going to have a very hard time convincing anyone of anything, because to some of these guys.....

Good article, seems like AMD is finally stepping up again, and trying to be the best like they were back in the day.

If you're expecting a $500 laptop to run games like your main rig, you shouldn't even look at this thread!

I'm talking about performance relative to the cost.

20% faster IS much faster. And yep, loses CPU limited games, but I'm not talking about games. I'm talking about absolute IGP performance, which is much higher than Intel's.

If even with a CPU that is roughly 25-35% slower than Intel's comparable offering, you manage to pull 20% higher FPS in games, imagine how much powerful the GPU is compared to the HD4000.

I am looking at replacing my current 14" with a Trinity based laptop. Something that will allow me to do multimedia stuff on the go, light gaming, movies and music, flash content, etc. The price is right and for what I am going to use the laptop for the performance is great for the price.

I don't know why it is so unfathomable to so many that someone would want to do some gaming on a laptop without paying for a discrete GPU...

and no matter how useless some try to make those APUs seem, they're being sold by the millions.

Yes totally this. This guy is my dude because he makes sense.

I don't know why you guys are so in love with a chip that gives you 720p /w low settings and a janky 30FPS but I guess to each his own. My opinion on the matter is pretty clear.

Just for the record if framerates were even 30% higher I might be more impressed but even with bare minimum settings it's still just averaging over 30 in most games. That is awful performance no matter which way you slice it. In fact the word unplayable comes to mind.

And just to be clear HD4k is just as bad if not worse.

720p on a 15" is similar to the same density as 1080p on a 23", it's not really that bad. As for performance, how is this considered bad? 33 FPS on medium on Metro 2033? This is for a $550 laptop, insane performance. You can get something with discrete graphics, but why bother for the extra 30% in performance for +$150? Any bigger gain and you're in upper-midrange - gaming laptop territory. And even then, you'll need a 560M or 650M, and performance at 1080p with those won't be much better than Trinity at 1366x768. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Trinity-in-Review-AMD-A10-4600M-APU.74852.0.html

edit: If you'll scope out some more on notebookcheck.. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html

You can verify just as much. A10-4600M almost matches the 540M from last year (note- this is what an M11x has), ties the 6630M, which is in the Vaio SA ($900 ultraportable). No head-to-head 1366x768 vs. 1920x1080 comparisons, but it's pretty clear you won't get much higher framerates with a Nvidia 650M at 1080p. Not to mention, even if Crossfiring with a 7670M only adds 20-30% over the 7670M, you're very close to 560M performance in a $650-700 system.

Not all the users have high budget. For example my cousin (14 years old) he use a 500$ laptop with llano because he dont have more money too spend and he dont play anything more cpu/gpu dependant than lol or wow on medium settings. We compare trinity/llano and intel mobile with our standards. Thats dumb. But for the 99% mainstream user out there is the right choice. Balance system with good performance/price. Nothing more nothing special just a system to do your job

Haters are going to hate at the end of the day.
Hate seeing company A rising to success.

I have had 2 intel laptop. Both fail miserably when it comes on to anything that requires a little gpu power.
My $350 zacate laptop passed with flying colours. My core2duo laptop is in my closet gathering dust.

My trinity laptop is going to own as well cheers.gif

EDIT: Or I might just get this. It walks over anything intel has for $700 and less.
