Trusty dumb phones <3

About as smart as my phone will ever get.

My two dumphones:

Cheap and nasty and with an interface designed by a monkey, but with colour and WAP/GPRS interwebz (which doesn't work)!

I'm not old, but I use an old phone (AND I LOVE IT):

700

Palm's greatest error was dumping their old PalmOS in favour of WebOS. The old PalmOS was genius, and stable for a very long time. Everyone (who had used a Palm in the past) knew how to use it.

That's really not true though is it. If Palm hadn't had developed WebOS then they'd have sunk sooner than they did. In fact their greatest error was not developing WebOS 2 years earlier as by the time handsets came to the market, they were already dead in the water.

And for the record, WebOS is a wonderful OS - far better than iOS, WP7 and Android all combined. It just needed a few speed refinements (which would have come in time, had they came to market sooner), better quality handsets (but they simply couldn't afford to take the gamble with luxury hardware) and more app support (again, that would have come in time).

PalmOS simply couldn't cut it in the current market. Particularly when Palms core business used to be PDAs / smart phones. frown.gif
