AMD drivers have stopped working is driving me nuts - Page 2

Back when I had a watercooled 5970, I used to have this exact same problem: it turned out, the GPUs were running too cold. It happened mostly after a bootup, as heat rose with time, the error happened more scarcely.

Check your temperatures. If they're close to ambient, chances are they're too low.

I don't have a solution to offer though, sorry.

All I use CCC for is to ensure my xFire is enabled. Otherwise I don't mess with it at all because it flat out sucks. Setting up eyefinity isn't the smoothest process either.

My card is running around 38C when I connect to a BF3 Server, so this does seem legit.

What else do you recommend that can do everything that CCC does?

I really wish I knew of an alternative. Now I got an error message that my adapter isn't supported, and that it can't be set to the max resolution. And this is for my active display adapter. I'm not sure if the adapter went out, the card is going out (even though it's running my other two monitors currently without any issues, and it doesn't crash from gaming, etc.), or the drivers are just causing massive problems. I didn't have this issue till I updated.

It seems people are very, very iffy about using things like drivesweeper as well.

I dont feel like opening a whole new thread so I will ask here, if you were to upgrade considering my current rig, will a GPU upgrade be the best way to go, or will my CPU hold my performance back if I get something like a GTX 680. I know this is obviously off-topic but just wanted a few opinions thats all.

Yeah, even after restarts now it's telling me there's Displayport link failure. Everything else works fine. So unless BOTH mini DP ports are screwed, then I'm sure it's something with the drivers and not my cards.

Well, an express uninstall got the monitor to be recognized again. I wonder where all the other AMD related-files are stored on the hard-drive so I can log in as the admin and clean them out manually. DriveSweeper just has TOO much of a negative rep, even when used cautiously and correctly.

Driver sweeper seems to work fine for me, however it could be because of that that I'm having so many problems with AMD's drivers.

Idk, when i get my GFX back from RMA i'll do a couple of experiments.
