G510 "Spacebar" Issue (I know, I know)

Well, it seems this board suffers from a variety of different spacebar problems. Some where it doesn't work at all, and some where it spaces twice instead of once.

I'm suffering from the latter (I've hit backspace a good ten times already). Is there any way to correct this issue? Replace the key, shove a piece of cardboard up in there, etc.?

I might just upgrade to a different board all together, but I'll pass this board on to someone else, because I wouldn't want to throw away an otherwise perfectly good board.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I dont think its a space bar issue. I have the same problem with mine in addition to the other keys double tapping from time to time. I tried an experiment and pulled out Notepad and would press a key, then space, then another key, then space over and over and very slowly. Nothing ever double tapped. Then I started typing as usual and Id get about 1 per paragraph. This makes me think that instead of a defective part, its the 1000MHz polling rate this thing has. When youre typing fast, youll hit the keys sloppy sometimes and maybe theyre bouncing or something and with the super quick polling, the keyboard is registering the bounce as an additional key stroke.

I really love this keyboard despite this so I sucked it up and tried to ignore it and after a few months with this thing, my double tapping issues have gone down drastically. Ill still double tap something out every once in a while but its much much less frequent now.

I know it can be a pain and if you dont love the keyboard like I do, it might not be worth dealing with.

Maybe check out Logitech's site. Shoot their customer service an email asking for one. Their customer service is about the best in the business and it wouldnt surprise me if they just sent you one for free. At the very least they should be able to point you in the right direction to buy one.

Interestingly enough, it's ONLY the space bar for me. All the other keys function as they should. I just wish I could fix whatever might be causing this!

Does the G19 suffer from this? My G15 was a solid trooper, but I got tired of the red (Honestly, it looked more orange to me, red on the G510 looks like a true red), so I got this for my newer build.

Ive quit looking for an answer really but Logitech basically ignored the complaints from what I could tell and never offered any type of fix for it. Keep looking I guess but also keep trying to live with it and see if you can. Im glad I didnt take mine back cause its working just fine now. I still get a double tap every once in a while but its not that big a deal to me. Now granted I dont do any typing aside from banging around on these forums so if youre typing for hours on end for work or something, it may be a little too much to deal with.

Yeah, with coding and other work, I'm always typing, haha. So the double tap on the space bar is very noticeable. I read in the Logitech forums that they basically ignored this, which is a shame. I figured I'd ask around over here, seeing how we're a different breed of computer-user, and often very innovative and good at developing a fix. I guess I'll look into it myself and see if I can come up with a solution! It'd be nice to make the LEDs as bright as they were in the G15 as well.

That's odd! I'm going to pop the shift off sometime later today and take a closer look. If it's set speed thing as suggested before, then I'm not sure of a way around there frown.gif
