And they also scale MUCH better than 560s do in multi-GPU setups. I had 3 6970s for a while and they are still capable of running any game you throw at them, and scaled perfectly.

Because the 560Ti costs a bit more and it only has 1GB of VRAM.

Meh, I don't believe any of the 6950's on the market today have any chance of unlocking.

That sapphire will oc to 6970 clocks, the fact of the matter is just by overclocking to 6970 levels you gain 97% of the performance of a 6970, the shader unlock on average only has a 3% effect on fps. The 6950 has more v-ram and can oc way better.

It could be true, but I bet the chance of unlocking is pretty low nowadays. The only ones that unlocked were the reference models and a few specific non-reference like for example the Sapphire Toxic. Best chance to get an unlock is to get a reference model but since they don't sell those new anymore AFAIK you'd have to buy used.

I am looking for the post now but L.A._kings fan had a list of which ones unlock and don't unlock, with sapphire cards IIRC its pretty much 50/50

EDIT: APPARENTLY

SAPPHIRE installs the 6970 BIOS on the card FOR YOU in Position #2 from the factory ! nothing to have to FLASH with a Sapphire card.

IF when you flip the DUAL BIOS SWITCH from Position #1 to Position #2 you don't see the upgrade unlocked shader count in your GPU-Z screen

THEN your card has a Laser Cut GPU Chip in it and nothing you can do will unlock the shaders

It really is THAT SIMPLE.

IF you need more help with a SAPPHIRE HD-6950 feel free to ask for some advice in one of these two spots ...

There will be more Nvidia 6xx series GPU's coming out that may fit into your price range. I don't know when the 8xxx series is due to release.

The latest DX11 games shine on the HD 7850. Tesselation performance is much improved on HD 7800 series compared to HD 6900.

not that much of a difference with both cards but i see the 7850 is for a 3.0 PSI slot and i only have a 2.0 i don't think i will be getting the full performance out of that card unlike the 6950 but then again not sure how that will work, so now im going to ask does it make a big difference if i don't have the right PSI slot speed for the card ???
