ASUS N56VZ-DS71

Thread Starter
Thinking about getting the ASUS N56VZ-DS71 off xoticpc.com since their the cheapest ive seen (quick search)

looks like i can probably get it for ~$1200-ish shipped. they dont charge me tax but shipping will take a while.

its also fairly thin considering.

downside is that it doenst have E-sata.

but its not set in stone yet. i'll probably wait a few more months before i make up my mind.
the graphics card is fast enough for me so i dont need or want anything better.

does anyone have the same type of laptop? what does the insides look like?
does it have a second hard drive bay?

I just ordered this laptop so I can give you more specifics in a week or 2 but i know it only has one hd bay. i personally got a hd in the optical drive bay and am just going to buy a seperate dvd/cdrw drive for like $20 on newegg. Otherwise, heres a link that might help answer some other questions you might have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcyy3zitRKs

the 1200 is pretty much the only thing holding me back right now.
and since SSDs are getting cheap i dont feel like i need a storage hard drive (i do have a lot of externals)

joshpiger are you going to take it apart? in the video they only took off the hard drive panel.

i always replace the thermal compound myself and it drops the temp by 5-7C.

I will probably take it apart but not right away. Was there something specific you want to see inside?
