Orange artifacts all over screen

Thread Starter
pandapimp's computer is having a strange problem, see attatched. He's tried reseating all heatsinks and checked all connections and rebooted many times but still gets this problem, yesterday he was having all sorts of random reboots and freezes in games so I think it could be a power issue, he has an OCZ Powerstream 600W SLI and his basic rig components are AMD X2 3800+, DFI nF4 SLI-D mobo, 2x1GB G.SKILL DDR500, XFX 7800GTX 256MB. I'm really out of ideas, any suggestions?

I know this is a simple question and maybe even a dumb one, but is the 7800GTX overclocked? I've had the orange artifacts when overclocking too much with my vid card. If it isnt overclocked you may try changing drivers and see if that resolves it.

Your video card is toast, sorry man.

Well if it isnt overclocked, try going with another set of drivers. And you might want to take the card out and check the core to see if it has any damage, such as cracks or scratches.

Well then that makes it unanimous lol, he needs a new video card. And his is out of warranty due to overclocking in the past and using a third party heatsink so he'll have to buy the replacement.

I had a very similar issue and it was caused by a low 3.3V rail (one of the reasons I have a PC Power & Cooling PSU now). Have him check his voltages. It can also be bad RAM so have him run Memtest86 and see what comes up.

No way man, just put the stock heatsink back on and RMA it. Everyone does that.
