So does it matter whether I plug my HDD and SSD into the white sata 3 or the black sata 3?

White is the native SATA 3 Ports, if your SSD is SATA3 definitely plug it into the white port or it will be only running at 3G max with the black SATA2 ports. HDD does not matter much but if they are SATA3 HDD in the white ports, you do get higher burst rate in the first few secs. but that's pretty much it.

The Other Sata 3 ports are Grey, which are routed to the Marvell chips. Enough said. They are better than the Marvells on the X58/P55, but still sucks imo.

Ouch, way to be rude, you answered half of his question

Pointing to the obvious answer of opening the manual and reading the obvious debug codes

Now do you have a rude way to answer the other half of how to fix it?

Socket 1155 is at the end of its road . If you own the i5 2500k get a P67 MB if not then get an IB and a Z77. The main thing ( well to me ) of the Z77 is Pcie 3 but for that you need an IB chip to have the ability to run Pcie 3 x 16 on two cards. As said above unless you have a IB chip and want to Sli or Crossfire you are going to pay for things you can't use. But hey this is OCN...

I mean, buying it now and having the ability to upgrade to IB later is always an option too. Nothing wrong with that ... if anything, the WORST option would be to get a p67 because then he wont even have the option to grab a better chip once SB is completely gone (if that happens).

You can run IB on most P67 boards with a BIOS update, can't you?

I see the sniper 3 has a few connections for fans on the board itself, is it better to run my fans to this or the controller that is built into my case (Phantom 820) I also have a external bay mount touchscreen NZXT sentry 1 controller I have never used, I'm trying to figure out the best route to go with these fans

JMO but methinks you would have better fan control using one of the fan controllers you mentioned. From what little bit I read your Phantom 820 controller may be your best bet as i think was 15w per chanel and had four chanels. So that would be like say 3 fan per channel? However i did not notice nor recall if it could do PWM fan control. I know nothing about the NTXZ controller. I did however at one time have a aerocool one it worked ok but the led screen went out twice... I use in one system a Zalmam MFC2 and it works as I need...

Thats the big thing...how much do you really need to control the speed? If you have that need then yes use one. I for one would use the cases built in controller for starters...G/L
