Enermax Plat 1000W
2x Asus GTX 670 Directcu ii (NON-Top) (301.42)
OCV Vertex 4 SSD
Am having problems running SLI the 2 cards.
Have tested each card separately via Heaven and both produce results in 1400's for 1920x1080, 8xAA, 16xAS, Extreme - Tess.
So i am hoping its not the cards.
Displayport - keeps going into power save mode - was able to run a heaven benchmark amongst the power saves and it didnt go into power save mode whilst running, also notice no sound coming out when i had speakers in the onboard sound.
DVI cable in - screen flickers every 10 - 15 seconds lasting about 2 - 3 seconds then into power save, comes back in windows and repeats.
Is there a setting on the board that needs to be changed or perhaps in the Nvidia settings? have tried both 301.42 and .25 and same results. amazing prior to installing nvidia it was working fine in SLI and with displayport!!!
Was originally running the standard F4 bios but thought i should at least update that. didnt want to go to the F6 beta at the moment, im a little funny with beta's and dont want to stuff up the board.
Any suggestions would be great!
thanks,

Do you have the SATA power plugged into the ATX4P port?
post #112 of 1879
yea the guy with the 3way SLI, do you have your extra power connector plugged in? it is required for 4-way and just recommended for 3-way.

Also new drivers out today which fix some issues with 600 series GPUs.

Yep had the ATX Additional Power plugged in. BUT its coming straight from my PSU, its not from a SATA Adapter as suggested somewhere in the thread. does this make a difference?

I thought power was power!! lol

Happened with F4 version of BIOS, so i thought i needed to update the bios to at least F5 since the person running 3-way SLI was able to get 2 going on F5.

But i shortly found out even after updating to F5 the problem was NOT resolved. so i must be missing something...

Got a suggestion to increase the clock speed of the GPU cards, i have noticed that after running heaven for a while (approx 1 hour) the screen doesn't flicker with DVI mode, but after a while it starts to flicker again.

Am i to suspect that when the card is cold it flickers and when under load / increasing in temp it runs fine!? never in my life with PC's have i seen/heard such nonesense! lol

Sin - do you mean that there is F6 drivers for the Sniper 3 board? i havent had a chance to check.

yep tried those beta drivers from nvidia - lasted a whole extra 2 seconds before the screen went back into power save mode. seems to keep losing signal. Found what you meant Sin! lol

Checked all my power settings and every possible sleep mode has been switched to Never..

still cannot run 1 single card with displayport or dvi.

When display port connected managed to go to playback devices and made sure that only creative onboard was enabled.

Updated my bios to F5.
Installed MSI after burner - was looking to clock the card up a little, can anyone give me some specs on what i should be starting with, safe wise to gradually increase?

has anyone else had any similar issues with similar hardware i have?

Also can anyone tell me how to activate PCI 2.0????

I tried disabling the onboard graphics and setting the slot to PEG - all this did was give me a black screen and a A6 error on the board.

Couldn't do anything else so i reset the CMOS and loaded default settings on bios and that brought it back to life to a screen i could see....

Seems these Gigabyte boards dont like Nvidia cards! lol.

Still only running 1 card. haven't attempted to put in the 2nd and try to SLI again.

any help would be great.

A6 is Ab and it in't an error, it is saying you are in the BIOS but you have no video output as your screen is blank. lol.

You cannot change to PCI-E 2.0 mode as the PLX bridge needs to be retrained to do so.

IMo i hear a lot of issues with these 600 series GPUs, but when tested they seem to work fine for the testers. I would go back to the drivers, try a much earlier driver release. BTW please fill in your system specs.

Thanks Sin,

Have tried Earlier drivers such as the 301.25 - still same result.

If not Nvidia drivers are used then no flickering or power save mode happens. it all works fine.

Was thinking perhaps its the mobo - setting i have missed - but if there is nothing that can be done on that end. Then yes it will have to be either the card or drivers used which could be causing the problem or something else conflicting....

there is no setting, it might be the drivers that are the issue. i will report this, but if it works fine without the driver then i don't think it would be the board. have you correctly installed your other drivers?

The OverClockers BSOD code list BSOD codes for overclocking
0x101 = increase vcore
0x124 = increase/decrease vcore or QPI/VTT...have to test to see which one it is
0x0A = unstable RAM/IMC, increase QPI first, if that doesn't work increase vcore
0x1E = increase vcore 0x3B = increase vcore
0x3D = increase vcore
0xD1 = QPI/VTT, increase/decrease as necessary, can also be unstable Ram, raise Ram voltage
0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances
0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency or uncore multi unstable, increase RAM voltage or adjust QPI/VTT, or lower uncore if you're higher than 2x
0x109 = Not enough or too Much memory voltage
0x116 = Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU) 0x7E = Corrupted OS file, possibly from overclocking. Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r
