Having a hard time with the search functions. Can anyone tell me if there are any problems installing Ubuntu as the first OS on a new SSD with this mobo?

M3, 3570K, onboard graphics.

got to MIT and look under Advanced voltage settings > 3D Voltage control , down that page you find Vcore protection ( five or six lines down) is listed and it has a block to enter a value. Hope that helps

Nope. Just be sure AHCI is enabled for your SSD and the optical drive is set as first boot device (Refer to mobo owner's manual) and you're good to go.

Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of. That might help.

I still say to call and see if Gigabyte has any recommendations, though.

I've a question which i couldn't find the answer in the manual (g1.sniper 3): is it necessarily to connect the extra SATA power (PCIe) connector if i want run only 2 x HD7970 @ Crossfire ?.

probably not, but is it really going to be so hard to plug in that extra connector?

I received my G1 Sniper 3 Motherboard yesterday. It is going to be a couple of months before I have everything needed to assemble my computer. I have gone through all the posts. They have been quite informative. I have read the PDF of the manual. The motherboard manual is easier to study on my 40" flat screen. I bought the Intel i7 3770K last week at the Micro Center In Tustin California for $229.99 before tax. It was an in store only sale. I noticed it is still listed for this price today. I will keep following the posts.

Having some very nice results with my setup so far!

yYvabhmm.png
  • Using DVID to bump Vcore to 1.25v at load.
  • "Extreme" calibration for all + eXm for PWM phase control
  • VTT, PLL, ITM, VAXG all auto
  • XMP Profile 1 for RipjawsX 16gb

Just starting out so I'll continue to play with the settings but still confused by most settings. tongue.gif

Looking good! thumb.gif

I'm having issues with my M3 board. Bios locks up in Advanced mode so I can't really tweak anything. Shopping for a replacement board now, then RMA the M3.
