Well, it separates the load and idle voltage, as far as I can tell, so it effectively lets you set the idle voltage, sort of.

Not exactly sure either, but in my experience offset sets idle and load voltages, and LLC just plays with vdroop, or basically let's you manipulate the load voltage.

I've been using fixed voltage for past few months myself.

I've recently found out that ASRock boards, and presumable Asus boards before BIOS updates allowed for idle and load offset which is nice to have. On most boards offset between load and idle is some sort of fixed value.

In offset mode, there is no Vdroop, right? I gave up on offset mode, personally; I clearly have no idea what I'm doing.

There is vdroop. It's just harder to tell unless you remember that VID + offset = your voltage. Then if you load the system, and voltage gets lower, there is definitely vdroop.

If I still remember correctly, I had to set my offset to +0.060 and LLC on Turbo for my 4.5Ghz overclock. It ended up being 1.34v during load, and didn't crash on idle. It's the same voltage I now run for fixed.

It's not that hard to use when you figure out your stable load voltage. If it crashes on idle, just up offset until it's stable, and lower LLC to get same low vcore under load.

I thought that might have been happening, but wasn't really sure. It certainly makes sense.

Offset overvolting is really confusing. Why did they have to implement Vdroop in the first place?

Prices on eBay seem to be inflated an insane amount. GTX 480s are being sold for between $200 and $400, despite them being sold normally for $140 nowadays.

I placed an offer on that one. Guy wouldn't budge from $360. I couldn't pay more then $300 for it, especially with craptastic onboard audio. I also was tempted since xspc makes a pretty block for it.

Yeah i got it for $330.00 and had a $50.00 coupon from ebay and came to $280.00 and picked up a waterblock for $112.00 free shipping. so $392 for the board and block isn't too bad.
