Gigabyte G1. Sniper 5/5M/3/M3 Owners Thread/Club - Page 14

managed to get the 2 way sli going.

working fine in heaven benchmark - got it to 170 FPS, lovely! all looking good.

Played oblivion for 10 mins, was flickering so i took off v sync, no problemo - all good.

Restarted the machine, uh oh.......

1 card could not even be detected............there goes my 2 way sli...

tested each card separately and they work fine.....

should i be using the 2nd slot/2nd card as the main card now?

Apologies but im a noob at SLI...

Starting to get the feeling to return these 2x Asus cards and maybe get the EVGA's....

thoughts?......

Don't know if you saw my post over at Tweaktown but I just overcame an issue with my Tri-SLI setup by reverting back to the drivers that came on the disk with my cards. In my case, my cards came with the 301.40 beta drivers. I was experiencing all my problems using the WHQLs. It might be awhile for my setup to get stable upgraded drivers.

How does the Dual bios switch work? Normal is "M" for main and "B" is backup I take it. If I switch to "B" bios should I be able to boot into windows?

@Sin - LOL, of course i am. Using both PCIx16 slots which is 1 and 3.

1st card blocks the 2nd slot anyway so it HAS to be the 3rd lol.

ATX additional power is in via directly from the PSU - couldn't overload it could i? will try the sata adaptor tonight.

@Caboob - im starting to suspect the same but did you have any issues running 2 way sli? or does it only occur when you run the 3 way?

Really interested to know how you even got 2 working.

Tonight i will be doing a fresh install of Win 7 and putting on the drivers from the CD that i haven't tried at all.

When i put in those beta drivers over the 301.42 it seemed to work and hence how i got the above results. but once a restart boom, it all went away.

very frustrating!

ahh yea those triple slot cards LOL. nah it wouldn't overload anything. you don't need to use an adapter.

I reused my corsair ax1200 power supply from my old i5-760 and asus p5p55de-pro system, as well as my old hard disk and ocz vertex 3 as my main boot disk. i also reused my 2gb GTX 680.
I reformatted the vertex and reinstalled windows. no problems so far and running smoothly. However i face one BIG problem.
When i shut down the pc, and try to press the power button to restart the pc thereafter,, it doesnt start up. then i tried using the mobo power button, which was glowing orange. also no effect .
i fiddled around with all the wires and stuff. still no go.
then i decided to switch off the psu, and switch it on again. Still no go.
I finally decided to unplug the 3 pin power connector from the psu fro 3 secs, till the motherboard power switch orange glow fades away, then plug the power supply back in, and the case power and mobo power buttons work again.
if i choose to restart the pc, it works fine perfectly.
if i choose to put into sleep mode, the keyboard and mouse all doesnt awake the pc, even the power switch doesnt work to awaken the pc. however if i switch off the psu and unplug and replug the psu, the pc resumes from the sleep mode perfectly.
I am totally confused whats causing the problem. any one of you g1 sniper 3 users face this issue?
on my old rig everything worked perfectly.

did some troubleshooting, problem solved, i was running 3 monitors off one 680, two with DVI and one with Displayport, due to the 27" screens being in landscape mode, the last monitors displayport cable was bent due to the long length. so the pc would restart with the 2 dvi cables connected, and the displayport disconnected. i swapped out the displayport cable (reminder, i need to get a 3 m long displayport cable, instead of a 2 meter one. , unless my QUAD evga GTX 670 4GBs SuperClocked arrives soon) then ill use a 3m long DVI cable.

Problem solved after swapping out the displayport cable smile.gif

To those who face this problem, basically its something that is shorting out the psu into safe mode, so it doesnt restart. thats why when u unplug the psu, it kinda resets. end of topic man.'

thank got it wasnt anything do do with my spanking new G! sniper 3 or the power supply.

You should be able to boot into windows but you'll have to go in the BIOS after POST and set the boot drive though.

You might wanna try plugging in the SATA power plug to the ATX4P port by the main power socket. I noticed that my cards would not boost when it was inadvertently unplugged. It may help witht the restart problems as well. Actually, the system was rock solid in 2-way SLI for me.
