I am having a slight problem with my new G1 Sniper 3 board.... I can't go into the bios without it failing on me. Boot up is fine but going into the bios causes a freeze (error code d5). d5 according to the manual is: No Space for Legacy Option ROM initialization.

Anyone have a clue? Where can I find the latest BIOS for the board... maybe updating it will fix me... of course I can't use Q-Flash since it won't load.

Edit: Go figure, I had to remove my Joystick from the USB port and my problems went away... so weird.

You can get the latest F5 bios or F6a Beta from gigabyte. G1.Sniper Bios

I think you may need to clear CMOS and add vcore or dvid to your system. Also one should not have to enter bios to flash just press end key while booting. Check your PCI ROM priority (in BIOS) and make sure it meets you needs.

Hi Folks,

Just joined because this looks like an active forum with great people. I haven't built a system since 2001 and decided to take the plunge and do a HTPC/Gaming. I may have a system with a little over kill however you never know where a setup may find a final home. I got some great deals at MicroCenter so I let the budget slip a little since it had been awhile. In addition I got to do a little case modding as the HD platform was in the way of the SATA plugs. My machine is listed below.

Two goals for the system are fast and quiet. Based on my current machines I think I achieved them somewhat however that's part of the reason for this post. I would like some feedback as to cooling fans and if I need to get another psu and drive setup for fast booting. I have downloaded the utilities from Gigabyte and don't know if it is me or the apps but I am getting errors and unknown results.

I am currently getting from power-on to logon in 16 seconds. I have no idea what the average is for this as this is my first SSD. The 2 Intel utilities Rapid Start and Smart Connect don't run. EasyTune6 won't run and EasySetup I'm a little leary of because it says it's from MacroVision. The only thing I have done so far is to turn off Superfetch and Prefetch. So any help to get me going on the correct path for speed and performance will be greatly appreciated. After this is accomplished then we can join in on the discussions of overclocking.

Thanks to all.

Rich

I don't see my machine yet so it is in my profile.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with it... Stock cooling might be ok unless your planing to OC. As far as your SSD thats sounds about right to boot up. Here is a guide from OCZ on SSD optimaziation. THE-BASIC-GUIDE & FAQ-ABC-for-OCZ-SSD
