Are there any companies making water cooling solutions for the XFX R7970? Just wondering..

Ya, I thought the more native lanes of X79 would help out but the quad-8x 3.0 lanes of the Sniper3 are holding up well. Although I am sure I am making that PLX chip sweat quite a bit. wink.gif

you could do the mod or get a universal block.

Good evening everyone:

I am a proud owner of a G1 Sniper 3, which I love, but I'm having a little issue with the Recon 3D Control Panel used for the Creative Audio chipset. The Recon 3D Control Panel defaults to a 5.1 surround. Since I only have a subwoofer and a left/right speaker system, I go into speaker mode and then uncheck everything except the front left/right speakers and the subwoofer. Then the sound works properly. However, it will not save the settings after a reboot or coming out of sleep modem, even though I've created the settings and saved them under a profile. I did some research and it appears as if the program does not save these settings. What I'm really hoping for if anyone here who also owns a G1 Sniper 3 and has a 2.1 sound system can replicate this same issue or not? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

There would definitely be contact between the fan clips and the 7970 on its way and so I repositioned the cooler and its fans to what is shown in the pictures as it gives more space for graphic card. My questions are;
1) Will cooling performance take a hit with this position of cooler and fans? (Case is an antec 900) I ask because I'm unsure if I should be impressed with the cooling performance of this cooler combined with my chip (3570K @ 4.5 GHz / 1.310 V) as I'm seeing average 100% load temperatures during Prime95 of low-mid 70's with peak temperatures in the low 80's.
2) If there is contact whatsoever between backplate of card and cooler, what should I use to insulate? I'm thinking I will slap on rubber tape or maybe electrical tape in areas where there is contact... ?? ...
No matter the position, it seems it is going to be tight fit regardless... I'm thinking how the heck am I going to remove the graphic card for future GPU upgrade... Should I just return the Noctua NH-D14 and grab the H80 or Antec 920?

And i thought i was the only one with this heatsink/fan - my god its a monster!!!

Got that cooler on my 3770K with the sniper 3 however in my cosmos 2 ultra case its facing the back exhaust rather than the top of the case. and i can tell you the clips for the fan the rest in the heatsink themselves is the only thing touching the backplate of my hd7970. the card looks to be on touch of a angle, but heat wise these babies dont go over 70 degrees and the cpu is comfortable at 60 degrees with stock clocks.

Yes running diskpart clean command on the ssd removed the disk out of gtp and was able to install using mbr instead.

Does the M3 use Intel's standard PROset drivers for it's NIC, or some proprietary crap?

normal Intel drivers. Also CFOS is some program to optimize LAn bandwidth with Intel NICs.
