I think you should try a different cooler. These are top 10 coolers by temperatures. http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

With that voltage you should be about 60 C or lower.... What’s your ambient temp?

Sniper M3
i5 3570k
Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 1600Mhz (4x2GB)
Zalman CNPS8900 Extreme CPU Cooler (with Arctic Cooling MX-4)
AMD Radeon 6670 HD
Antec BP550 Plus 550W Power Supply
LG DVD-RW
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD
Silverstone Grandia GD07 Case (includes three 120mm fans)
The only settings I've changed in the BIOS are:
- set the Memory profile to "Profile 1" which makes it automatically run at 1600MHz with 1.65V.
- turned off all of the power saving features (C1E, EIST, etc).
- CPU clock ratio to 40
- VTT down to 1.02
- PLL down to 1.5
I never touched the CPU VCore so it remains set to auto. In CPU-Z the Voltage shows as 1.020 and the clock of course at 4000Mhz. I ran an IntelBurnTest (Times to Run = 10, Maximum RAM) and it passed, but as mentioned the temps were very high. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I know some chips are better than others but these temps seem abnormally high for this amount of overclock. I also noticed large jumps in temp in RealTemp. For instance, a core would be moving between 64-66 degrees when at 99.9% load, and then all of a sudden would jump up to between 79-81 at 100% load in a just split second (maybe this is normal for an IntelBurnTest, not sure).
Thanks,
Mike

I've set the vcore to 1.150v in the BIOS. As mentioned it was set to AUTO. I just figured it was defaulting to 1.135v because that was the number that was showing beside it. I've also changed the LLC to High as you suggested. I was already using the version of CPUz that you mentioned so I stuck with that. It's the x64 version since I have a 64-bit OS if that makes any difference.

So with these settings changed, I've ran another IntelBurnTest which passed again. The temps are only slightly improved (70, 79, 81, 75) which is roughly a 5 degree drop per core, but still not even close to the point where I believe they should be at 4GHz.

The ambient temp of the room is kept between 72F and 73F. The cooler I'm using actually received a nice review from FrostyTech and was listed as the number 1 cooler below 75mm and number 3 cooler below 110mm. According to the temperature comparison it's only a 7 degree difference between this and NH-C14 so if 60 C or lower is what I should be getting with a cooler like that, then I should still only be getting around 67C with my cooler. Since I'm using an HTPC case, I needed a cooler that wasn't as tall. The case itself has good airflow with 3 120mm fans and 4 vents. Even if I take the top off the case the temps only drop by about 2C.

I am stuck in a boot loop after restarting from windows..... I have tried everything.... Code 60 comes up on the debug light before it turns off again (DXE Core is started)

PLEASE HELP!!

This was just after a successful overclock to 4.5ghz 13 hour prime run, (temps never went about 76C) I set PLL to 1.7v, cpu to -.010, and RAM to Profile 1. 300 and 200 on the power CPU turbo settings.

I have the H100 and the light for the speed isnt coming up just the light on the guy icon on the bottom right.

I have pressed the reset BIOS switch, pulled out the battery, unplugged the computer, unplugged the 24 and 8 pin power plugs from the mobo, plugged it back in took out my ram put another kit in, run off onboard video... still no dice.... unplugged hard drives as well. still wont come up, and before it was showing the level of fan power I had on my cooler and its not doing that anymore ,just lighting up the guy on the bottom right.

the debug codes go like this when it turns on:

15 - Pre-memory North-Bridge initialization is started
36 - CPU PEU initialization
4F - Reserved
60 - DXE Core is started

then it dies, and loops again, sometimes it even tried the backup bios and it still doesnt work. I Think my board just died on me.... or CPU... and it just had a great overclocking experience with this board and was ready to start installing games...

On the H100 if the little guy on the right is lit up means you have it set for the corsair link to control the fans. All you need to do when running is push the center of the block to change from slow, balanced, turbo, and corsair link.

So here is an update about my Nvidia driver crashing problem on my G1. Sniper 3.
So I went to my friends house and was able to troubleshoot everything.

I had previously tried theh F6a BIOS flash. It didn't work, except for one time it did work (Furmark for 15 minutes ran).
I tried using the GTX 670 on his Biostar board, it worked. The GTX 670 is fine.
I tried using his AMD 6870 on my Sniper. It worked fine, so I don't think there's anything physically faulty with my motherboard.
I tried using a different (working) psu on my G1. Sniper 3 with my GTX 670. Still didn't work.
I tried using a (working) HDD (instead of SDD) on my Sniper. Still didn't work.
I tried using different (working) memory on my Sniper. Still didn't work.

"didn't work" means it crashed in the same way as before, which is the Nvidia driver kernel stopping responding and recovering, etc.

This means that probably due to the G1. Sniper 3's BIOS, there is some incompatibility with their own video card.

Thoughts on this? I'm going to call Gigabyte today or tomorrow and try and get information about this, but it seems like I either need a different motherboard / video card, or wait for a new Nvidia driver / BIOS version to fix this.
Very disappointing indeed that Gigabyte can't even make their own products compatible.

it could be the PLX bridge, but then again why would it not affect GTX680 users.

However you might want to try re-installing windows, and re-flashing the BIOS.
BTW gooface's systems, his CPU died as well as the pump on his H100 lol, i am guessing it overheated when the pump died.

He tested an AMD 6870 which doesn't work at PCI-E 3.0 speeds. Maybe his PLX chip isn't able to operate at the full frequency and has some physical problem? My GTX 680's in SLI work great on my Sniper 3.

yea perhaps he should RMA the board, except that wouldn't be the issue I haven't heard of a PLX not doing that, if anything it would just downgrade to PCI-E 2.0 mode on a PCI-E 3.0 GPU.

IDK maybe you should lRMA the board that is an odd issue, i will ask the BIOS guys what is up, perhaps they have a fix if there is an issue with that GPU.
