Gigabyte G1. Sniper 5/5M/3/M3 Owners Thread/Club - Page 8

I am very close to ordering this motherboard, but I need to know whether the onboard audio supports BluRay audio playback or not. I've looked over the manual and did not see anything about that.

If it doesn't then things get complicated since I can't see how I can fit 2 triple slot GPUs, the WiFi/Bluetooth card, and a Xonar on the board at the same time. There doesn't seem to be enough space since only PCIEX1_2 would be free from overlap. PCIEX8_2 might be free, but putting a 1x card there would switch the lanes to 16x/8x/8x.

Hi all. I'm about to pull the trigger on the board. Can anyone tell me if the onboard sound supports Dolby Digital Live? It seems like it does, but I just want to make sure. Thanks in advance.

I just got the Sniper 3 board last week and got it set up easily enough. However, I can't get Tri SLI stability (with Gigabyte 670 OC) with it so far. I get locked up after 10 min in a game (BF3, ARMA2 DayZ mod). Things I've tried:

1) Driver sets 301.24, 301.42, 302.59
2) BIOSes F5 and F6a in addition to the shipping BIOS F4. In F6a, my whole screen locks up in Windows soon after loading.
3) Disabling Creative sound chip
4) Switching between Intel NIC and Killer NIC.

I've made sure that the ATX4P was plugged in via SATA power cord. Two card SLI is rock solid but I bought this board over the ASUS WS board for Tri-SLI. The video cards worked fine in Tri-SLI on a Rampage III Extreme and I have an AC unit that blows cold air onto the cards. Card load temps never go above 50C.

Any suggestions?

What kind of crash. BSOD? Display driver stop responding? Stock clocks?

Screen just freezes up. No BSODs. Occasionally will get error message about nvidia driver recovered. all stock clocks, wont overclock until i get this sorted out.

I think I'm RMAing this puppy. My bad for not finding any reviews of this board that were able to verify that tri/quad SLI could work on this board. I was hoping to avoid going X79. Maybe I'll try my 580s in tri-sli and see if I could find out whether it's the board or maybe the drivers not optimized for this chipset.

So I was able to get Tri-SLI working with one screen without locking up but not 3 so that's some progress this weekend. I was able to go 30 minutes without a lockup on 3 screens by plugging in the monitors in the same order as the cards. Will try this again after I re-install Win7. Feels like my OS install is borked after the numerous lockups and plugging/unplugging videocards from their slots.

I heard that this board is not a true EATX mobo. Can someone confirm this? If it is possible I would like to put this board in a Corsair 650D case.

From top to bottom it's the same length as ATX, but it's just a little wider from left to right. So it will fit in the case thumb.gif It just might cover your cable management holes a little bit.

So all the stand-off screws will line up fine?
