Could you please provide me a last minute check before I pull the trigger on this system upgrade (the new stuff below).

I use my system for gaming (mostly FPS) and photo processing (photographer). I run a 305t monitor which I game and work at 2560x1600.

--Own---
CPU: i7-3770K
Card: Evga 690 GTX
Drives:
SSD1: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SATA III
SSD2: OCX 256GB
SSD3: OCX Veretex 120GB SATA II
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 2 TB SATA III
PSU: 750W Seasonic gold

--New--
Mobo: Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3
Case: CoolerMaster HAF XM
Cooler: Corsair H100i
Memory: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 32GB (4 x 8GB) CMD32GX3M4A1866C10

My fears:
1) Is my memory compatible with the mobo? Should I just get cheaper stuff?
2) Is it going to OC ok?
3) Is the PLX chip going to interfere with my single (dual gpu) card performance?
4) With all this fit into the case?
5) Should I go the asus maximus V?
6) Going bald.

All input appreciated. Thanks!

why not go all straight samsung pro?
I use the drives for old file groupings and different photo libraries.
I do plan to purchase another samsung pro but that is a different discussion: Raid 1 or just a second drive.
First however, I need to upgrade off the GA-X58a-UD3R which can't take full advantage of the one 840 pro I have.

if you only going to be using one gpu the PLX will slow it down, the msi mpower is a good alternative if you are only using 1 gpu.

Corsair ram is overpriced to hell. get some Gskill for half that price.

It will OC very well

The PLX chip decreases single card performance a bit, but it doesn't really matter all that much; it is by a very small margin, which probably won't be noticeable in games.

It looks like it can fit in your case

The Maximus V has a lesser NIC, as far as I can tell. It also has fewer power phases and can't do 4 way SLI. They are probably pretty similar though.

I am only going to comment on two things.

First I would suggest you look at a XSPC water cooling system instead of the Corsair H100i. I have one of each cept my H100 is not an i. Second Corsair memory is good but look to the Samsung green 1600 MHz memory... it overclocks to 2133 easily and its cheap and 32 gb of any memory on any board will be a pain in the arse if OCed or not.. Voltage man voltage.. Case fit no doubt is ok, Single/Dual GPU easy money as far as fit. ASUS no way man Sniper is the real deal. As far as bald don't do the knob. And last but not least OC of the processer is a breese...

BTW... I'm a Texan American!

didn't know the M3 had a plx chip. Thought that was reserved for tri/quad sli/xfire boards that needed the extra lanes thinking.gif

16x 2.0 or 8x 3.0 on a dual gpu card is fine

I thnk "UA-Banks" may have caused the confusion when he/she asked if it will slow down a gpu but he's citing the M3.

I did checkout the specs and it doesn't have it. Would see why GB will add such a thing if its not really meant to take full advantage of it.
