Gigabyte G1. Sniper 5/5M/3/M3 Owners Thread/Club - Page 85

So just an update to my no POST situation, I tired the top PCIE 1x slot (the one hidden by the video card) and same thing, will not POST with the LED cycling 72, 9A, 96 then restarts. I posed the question to Gigabyte but I don't expect a response for a few days at best.

one last quick update, I tied the 8H beta BIOS and it seems to be working just fine with my Xonar in the PCIE 1x slot. Thanks to anyone who offered input, much appreciated biggrin.gif

72: PCH devices initialization
9A: USB initialization started
96: Assign PCI device resources
These codes really aren't all that helpful. I think I've only ever had one situation where post codes have lead me to a solution.

Also, with regards to my problem of the board a couple times not posting after messing with the frequency, there is no POST code listed for 8. This is very strange.

thx g:)uys

Welcome buddy thumb.gif

I haven't seen any heatsinks in green but you can always paint them. I thoght muskin had some I couldn't find anything (newegg). I'm using the Corsair Vengeance blue. Black would look nice too.

Thanks! Just forf the record the 8H seems stable except for the "Fast Boot" setting, when its enabled restarts are bugged. Just flashes 15 than 19 and repeats, like the system never fully powers off to restart. With Fast Boot off I haven't had any troubles payed about an hour of BF3 and 2 hours of Crysis 2 today without any issues.

Patriot used to make Green ram for nvidia chipsets, but is been a few years.

Yea, fast boot is broken on the recent UD5H BIOSes too. Just try previous BETAs if you want it to work.

I totally forgot about these Vipers from Patriot. They also make a new one w/ a green heatsink:

Good news! Got my Sniper3 in today. Open box but all accessories are in there. Thank goodness for amazon's awesome return policy. I'll be putting this one through its paces early on to make sure there are no surprises in the future.

Ehhh everything is working fiine so far, so I don't wanna mess with it. Im on a SSD anyhow so my boots are like 15seconds at most, the POST being the longest part.
Fast boot's job is to eliminate the post time smile.gif, but unless you have EFI GOP compatible GPU, it doesn't help much.

You peeps do know that this board has a dual bios right? That you will need to also flash the secondary bios as well when you flash the primary right? Otherwise when the primary bios fails it looks to the secondary bios and if its a diffrent version well more problems.... If it hasn't been updated just another mistery to deal with. Use ALT + F10 when booting up to backup the primary bios to the secondary bios! G/L
