How do you set the Vcore manually on the M3? I adjust to 1.310v and it always goes higher in windows. Anyways here is my board.

Can someone explain to me how offset works?

Does it take effect under load or at idle?

Use CPU-Z. Or even better, multimeter. You are probably reading VID...

In Advanced Voltage settings- 3D Power control there's Vcore LoadLine Calibration. You can set it to prevent the vcore from fluctuating. Try the different settings and reboot. See what will slow the voltage from rising.

It takes effect when you boot up. I don't use it as I just work with straight Vcore only.

Not sure if you are referring to it as a concept or in relation to this board? I'm assuming the concept.

Use Core Temp and you will see VID , that is the voltage the CPU wants the board to give it at that setting. If you know what vcore you need to be stable at a certain speed you take that number (Vcore) , say 1.25 V and deduct VID say, 1.15 V thus your set offset will be +0.1 .

Offset is used to lower power consumption when not under load. The best is to use manual vcore to find a stable setting first then convert to offset. That's the first part load line calibration comes into play here too. Perhaps someone can jump in to explain it. I use extreme setting and 1.8 V PLL as it works for me.

I meant in relation to this board.

If I have a VID of 1.2V and an offset of +0.1V, for example; what will be my load and idle voltages? Will it be 1.3V at load and 1.2V at idle or 1.2V at load and 1.3V at idle?

Should be 1.3 at load 1.2 at idle. i.e offset + VID . If your setup is right then VID drops as you idle and so should your vcore.

Gigabyte Sniper 3 Z77, my worst buy from Gigabyte and I am a Gigabyte fan since P45, which I had Gigabyte since EP45-DS3, X58A-UD3R, P55A-UD3P, B75M-D3H and a H61M-DV3P. All got the jobs done and in a reasonable price.

From the past few years of great expereience and I finally gave their high end board a try but god, I am so wrong.

1. F8H Bios after a few restarts will not register the setting. Eg. Set Multiplier to 48 from 47 and restart, entering the bios the setting did show 48, however in MIT or PC heath tab and CPU-Z all is still @47 and it is still running at 4.7ghz, the same goes for Vcore. Need to reflash the damn thing and do it all over again. Happened twice. Trying F8i now.

2. About 10% of the time, after updating the windows or a driver update and promot to restart, after the windows shutting down screen, the machine will still be running and with no screens. Needs to manually restart.

3. The Creative Chip is a joke. It can't even do Dolby Digital Live or even Dolby Digital and how the hell does it consider a gaming board??? X58/P55 board no matter how cheap, will include this essential gaming feature in a lowly Realtek chip and not this high end board? I know the CA0132 chip will do DDL, but the software tabs are different than the real Recon3Di. Hello gigabyte, not everyone uses a headphone or cheap RCA plug speakers. I am using toslink to a AVR to a set of 5.1 B&W speakers and it is sitting there cuz this damn board only does PCM over toslink and it locks the ability to do DDPLII because the software/driver is so tore down.

If everyone is considering this board with digital out to a reciever for gaming or even surround music, think twice. rolleyes.gif

and a quick pic that I really spent the past few weeks trying to work this out and now I have to find my first sound card in 10 years.
