Cool... ask and ye shall recieve. I'm an owner and newby @ co these boards well any sb or ib boards. I am thinking about creating a bios template like in the good old days. Now I do realize it's way easier to OC todays tech compaire to say a p45 system but I think it would be useful. I like to ask how and why questions as I want to know how it works and why if you change this how it affects that...lol

Anyways thanks for starting this thread. +1 rep

Does a large cpu cooler (such as Silver Arrow / NH-D14) fit on the G1. Sniper 3 without issue?

By without issue, I mean clears the heatsinks, allows first pci-e x16 slot to be used? It looks like a large cpu cooler would block the first pci-e x16 slot? I don't have any experience with large aftermarket coolers.

This is a different board, but it shows how large the cpu cooler is, and looks to be blocking the first expansion slot area.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/picture/?src=/images/coolers/thermalright-silver-arrow-sb-e/23_tr-sbe_in_big.jpg

Or, if it does block the first pci-e x16 slot, can you use the other x16 slot, even though it's recommended to use the first one if only a single video card? Or I mean I know you CAN, but would it make a big performance difference? I am not sure on the specifics as to what is different between these two slots. I assume it's because of the PLX chip giving the extra lanes to the 2nd x16 slot?

Thanks.

I've about had it with ocing this board above 4.6 GHz. I swirched back to the F4 bios it shipped with and go ti to boot easily with a 46x and 21.33 mem. then all I do is up to 47x and boob it hangs on logo screen. Can't get into bios. Is this board bad or failing? Any sugestions...

WoW check this out lol. I finally got it to boot into windows @ 4.8GHz long enough to get this... looks like ne thing higher than 4.6 is impossible...how much voltage would I need....lol BTW all settings were on auto ecpt vcore manual and llc on turbo. There has to be somthin wrong of I just have a crappy MB and CPU!

I am having an issue with my new computer using this motherboard.
I installed Windows 7 from uefi boot (gpt disk), and installed drivers and everything.
I have a Gigabyte GTX 670 (the factory overclocked one).
I have the newest 301.42 WHQL driver installed.

My problem is, when I try and do anything video card related that is slightly intensive the driver crashes. When I run the Windows Experience Index test the driver crashes, and says it was able to recover. Same thing happened at Diablo III main menu when logging in. The system will start to become unresponsive (can't move mouse) and then screen goes black and (usually) "recovers".

I also tried Furmark, and within 3-5 seconds it does a similar crash, but with a different message (something about problem with OpenGL driver and error 3).

As far as I know the card is working fine. I was using it on my old motherboard (HP Narra2), and could play Diablo and run Furmark with no issue (except I was cpu limited by an old dual core AMD).

I've tried changing "Power Management Mode" in Nvidia Settings from "Adaptive" to "Prefer maximum performance", as well as changing Windows 7 power options to High Performance.
The card has a 6-pin and 8-pin power ports, and they seem to be installed correctly and everything. I have the card in the first pcie x16 slot. The fans are working, it does not seem to be overheating in any way.

It just seems like a driver problem. I have cleaning out the driver and reinstalling, as well as trying the slightly older GeForce R300 Driver, which does the same thing.
Note that both of these drivers worked on my old motherboard, and therefore different Windows 7 install.

I can use my 3770k Intel HD graphics fine it seems, or at least the WEI test ran and gave 6.6 for graphics.

Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

More notes:
-I have a 1000W Seasonic platinum power supply, which seems to be working fine (I used it without problem on the HP motherboard).
-Installation is on a OCZ Vertex 4 256GB.

Also wanted to note an additional unrelated problem. I cannot seem to install the Atheros WiFi driver for the included bluetooth/wireless card. It says when trying to install "The installer cannot run on this platform. Please select package for your operating system".

lol your board is one of the best, your CPU sucks tho most likely, that is how it is not many people are able to do 4.8ghz stable with Ivy Bridge. At least not with your cooling. Try lowering CPu PLL. Perhaps disable power savings and turbo.

Thanks for reply.

I did try and also install 296.10, but it would not let me (when checking for compatible hardware it says I don't have any). I will see if pre-296 drivers do this too.

I did plug in the usb cable yes. I installed the bluetooth driver successfully I think.

Edit:
I tried the 295.73 driver but it said "The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware".

Also, when I start my computer I get a pop-up from WiFi Share saying something similar to "Unable to detect the WiFi card!".

Conners, can you please tell me where to find these newer BIOS's (F6a?) for the G1. Sniper 3.
All I can see on the Gigabyte website is F3 and F4.

Thanks.

Edit:
Nevermind, I found it on the TweakTown forums. Thanks for bringing that to my attention though, it fixed my Nvidia driver crashing problem!!!
