Lost interest in folding when team OCN became team HPCS.

this thread isnt asking you to fold forever. just long enough to help OCN pull a lead and win the chimp challenge. it called contributing to the site you freely use.

Will do my best to fold for the OCN team. Though my rig mightn't be the best. Using both my 560ti and gts 450 as well as my i5 650 to fold, hopefully i can pull some decent points.

is this normal both are currently at stock, I would have expected the 2500k to do more

Pretty sure it's a known issue that folding on AMD GPUs causes your PPDs on your CPU to tank. I suggest smp folding only for your case.
Yeah I think my radeon is killin me...My avg PP with my GTX 465 was like 8k...I'll reconfigure it tonight....been a busy week.

Is it because the AMD gpu cannot do as much as an nvidia GPU for the same amount of CPU cycles?

No, from what I've read it's because the folding client software has been optimized for Nvidia GPUs.

Hmm really confused...I was getting over 6k on my 2500 with the 6850 folding, someone said that AMD GFX cards with hinder the folding of my CPU so I disabled the GPU and now am just running SMP and my PPD is around 1300

is this right?

is this right?

ATi cards aren't geared towards folding and do load the CPU to fold. The PPD does increase when folding both. Your CPU's PPD will drop some, but together will produce more PPD. wink.gif
