Calling XFX 7850 owners

Thread Starter
I'm about to get this card: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150609

I've noticed most 7850 only require 1 6pin connector, but the XFX models seem to require 2 6 pin. Will it run with only 1 6 pin connected? I read XFX used 7870 PCB even on the 7850 model, was XFX too lazy to remove that additional 7850 or something? Just wondering.

If anyone with a XFX 7850 requiring 2 6 pin try their card with only 1 6 pin connected and see if it works, would be really kind.

Thank you.

To bad no one has replied to you. Either no one knows the answer to your question, or there are to many XFX haters on this forum.

no, you need both connectors plugged in. xfx makes their own pcb's, many of their cards are non reference pcb. in order for the card to actually work, both connectors will need to be plugged in.

Why would you buy XFX over the cheaper Asus?

Because I read reviews and power consumption on that ASUS 7850 is way above any other 7850 models.

You bought the XFX which has 2 6 pin connectors while the Asus has 1 and you think the Asus is going to use more power?

The MSI version just came back in stock but I like the appearance of this one better.
And what's up with the Dirt game giveaways? I can't use those.

XFX underload system was 174 watts on a site I checked which was considerably less than older gen or even 560 but did not compare to Asus.
But I'm sure any voltage tweaks throw that right out the window on any of these.
Did you see it was recommended a 500 watt ps? Your system shows 450.
I'd definitely make sure on the 12v rail requirement before firing up.

I have an XFX 260 it was a nice card. I'd like to upgrade just can't pull the trigger yet.
Enjoy your new toy it will be fun.
