Asus 670 DirectCU II TOP - Page 125

I spent tonight putting my build together and I've just started to test my non-top card. So far it looks promising, but I need to tweak my fan profiles to get my temps down. I'll try to post some good updates sometime tomorrow. biggrin.gif

I think we need to collate results before we can make this conclusion. For 'working right out of the box' maybe yes but from what I can tell by reading through the thread there seems to be little differentiation between the 'overclocking potential' and final MHz when overclocking TOP and non-TOP cards. Perhaps the binning process isn't as comprehensive as ASUS would have us believe, both suffer the same variance between chips and some of the TOP cards are just too ambitious and don't remain stable at their higher stock overclock.

I for one am really happy with my TOPs. Both boost to 1293 stock (they have consecutive serial numbers) and are stable for 2 hours of Heaven. They are overclocked to 1331/3506, also Heaven stable.

I have a problem with my cards as well , i get DX error in BF3 , everything else seem to work fine , Witcher 2 , Diablo 3 but BF3 is crashing to black screen.

DirectXfunction"GetDeviceRemoved"ReasonFailedwith
DXGI_ERROR _DEVICE_HUNG
Device hunged due to badly formed command
GPU "Nvidia GeForce GTX670" Driver:30142

This is really frustrating , i used to get this error with my GTX590 sometimes but it was quite rare now i get this all the time , sometimes I'm able to play 1 or 2 rounds but that's it.
I didn't have this error with one card it happens only in SLI , anybody else getting that ?

EDIT: I've done some googling it happens to various differnt cards ATI/Nvidia and while there is no definitive solution to this problem lot of people are saying this is due to voltage.

Just caught up with the last few pages.

To confirm YES THE NON TOP DOES INCLUDE A FACTORY FITTED BACKPLATE. Its the same card as the TOP just not overclocked out of the box.

To the chap who posted a screen of his TOP crashing even with -10 core, that really sucks and this seems to be a common problem for the TOP models. NON TOP is the way to go then OC it yourself. All of them are stable out the box as they run at default 670 speeds, however it does boost to 1124mhz but thats no problem as that a low overclock anyway.

Robot Devil - is your pc rebooting when you get the black screen?? Also i had my GTX670 in the bottom PCI-E slot for a bit mate to test and i fitted fine with the HDD cage there! Depends how low your PCI-E slots are i guess?

After some more testing with Heaven last night, I couldn't get it to loop for more than about 20 minutes without crashes at stock frequencies. I set up an RMA with Newegg, and I'm about to take my card to the post office. I'm not sure if I want to wait on the ASUS cards coming back in stock on Newegg, so I may see about getting an EVGA FTW. I'm not sure, though. The cooler on these cards are excellent, and if I do end up ordering another ASUS card, I'll definitely get the non TOP. Anyways, I just thought I'd pop in and post an update about what was going on with my card.

Oh sweet. I think that seals the deal. I can get it for 20 cheaper from where I buy too. I'd rather have a card that's stable and reliable right out of the box. I can mess with overclocking once I know I can revert back to a more stable setting I'm sure off.

Thanks for letting me know. thumb.gif

I don't know why, but I just assumed the non tops didn't have that nice looking backplate.

No it doesn't reboot i just have to wait a bit and it goes away , i bumped the voltage a little to 1012 using ASUS GPU Tweak and i'm testing it atm , i'll post back how it goes.
HDD cage can't be moved , as i said lower card is in the way mad.gif i guess it's due to motherboard layout.

BTW Realtek sound is horrible , getting a new X - Fi now can't bare another week with this crap.

Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem with their Asus card (I have the TOP version).

While booting my computer, I'd say about 80% of the time I get signal the whole way through the booting process. However, when I get to the where it loads windows I instantly lose signal ad have to restart my computer a few times till it works. I don't know if it's worth getting an RMA since it's a decent overclocking card, +55 boost and +440 on the memory.
