Well guys, my card is fail. Massive artifacting and crashing within 30 seconds in every game I can launch. I found this out when I tried to launch BF3 a little while ago. The Borderlands, Batman AC, The Witcher 2, Metro2033 etc. Even at stock speeds which are much lower after the vbios update. I just called Asus and am in the beginnings of the rma process. My card was fine until I updated to 304.48 beta drivers and that new vbios from Asus. I started getting diminished performance in games and the weird part is that in games it would be dropping to 367mhz, 600mhz, and other such low clock speeds. Setting maximum power in control panel didn't help. It went sort of back to normal when I rolled back to 301.42. Performance was still terrible in games for the first few minutes, then it went back to normal. I don't know what the deal is. My last two gpus were Asus direct cu and nvidia. Both problematic. My next will be neither (Nvidia or Asus). I took some screens of Batman AC on steam.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Wheeeeew !! I finally got my cards to work thumb.gif
It turned out that apart from the cards being faulty i had problem with second PCI E slot on my mobo which was causing the crash in SLI.
I ended up getting a new mobo GA-Z77X-D3H and voila it works great now !!
I flashed my good TOP with the new BIOS just for the sake of it and kept the other non top card
My clocks now are as follows
TOP : +50Mhz , 1280
Non TOP +95Mhz 1180

They work great but i still kinda wish my non TOP would to bit more , alas even at +100 it produces artifacts in BF3 , very seldom but still and anything above is crashing in Heaven.
One last thing is bothering me now , my PSU is making that buzzing noise while under heavy load aka Heaven , BF3 , I'm kinda scared it's going to fail and damage something maybe it's time to get something more powerful ?

If it is a high frequency noise that changes pitch depending on load...then you have coil whine. Google it smile.gif

Well, I got my new card today after RMAing my TOP card. I got a non-top instead as when I did my RMA, newegg was OOS so I got a refund. Anyways, new card seems to be all right, doesn't clock quite as high though. Here was the best Heaven I got.

700

I did my run at +110 core and +700 mem (thumb.gif). There was some artifacting but the test still went through, so not 24/7 oc. Core ran in the upper 1100 range, like 1180. At first I thought my card was running much hotter earlier today, but it was a scorcher outside so I guess that's where that came from. Didn't go higher than 69C now that it has cooled down a bit.

Like ISON said plus from my experience if your PSU is about to blow up and take your hardware with it then it gives you no warring at all, so you're pretty safe since you can tell something is wrong
thou this whine can be mega annoying
If you're using that CoolerMaster from your sig then chance of it killing your hardware is minimal, if it's faulty it'll just die now since the load is greater with SLI

Well while under Windows everything is OK it's quiet i can only hear it if i put my ear to it but while gaming or benchmarking it starts to make that buzzing sound which makes me little uneasy ph34r-smiley.gif

Yes I'm using the CM 700M from my sig , i originally bought this unit in 2008 with my old 9800GX2 but since my GX2 died not even a year later and i switched to GTX275SLI i bought Corsair TX750 , i only started using it again 9 months ago when i bought GTX590 so i effectively got around 18 months of use out of it.
I would switch back to TX750 but it's in use in my other rig , my main concern is safety i don't wan't to risk damaging almost £800 worth of GPU's cause i didn't buy new PSU for £100 , it would be stupid.
Another thing is that sound is getting much quieter when i disable SLI which leads me to think I'm putting too big load on mu PSU and freaks me out.

Asus non-top @ 1231 max boost...

I had a driver (latest beta) restart when playing BF3 , when I checked AF’s log’s I noticed high Power Usage spike at the time… 388%.
The temps were around 62C, and it was feeding 1.175V… .
I checked Event Viewer and I only noticed warning (the driver has restarted)… no critical or error events…

Could this be a caused by unstable overclock, bad hardware (gpu or psu), unstable hardware… ???

Right after I played 2 more hours without any issues…
post #1720 of 2677
So, still lots of issues with the TOP?
Has the BIOS actually fixed anything?
