Asus 670 DirectCU II TOP - Page 175

I tried playing around with my clocks and my non TOP won't go higher than 1180 but my TOP makes 1320 so far thumb.gif, wonder how that kind of difference in clocks affects scaling in SLI
It still feels strange to me having two cards in SLI with different clocks.

I was hasty and flashed the Bios update. Prior to flashing I was getting 1330 Mhz on the core (GPU set at 1200Mhz) Stable on 3dMark11. After the flash My core now maxes out at 1280Mhz. (GPU 1200)

Now after flashing I need to boost GPU to (1250) to get the Max boost at 1330. Now 3dmark11 crashes and isnt stable.

I wish I didnt flash that update and hope another Bios comes out soon :-(

Just from reading posts on here I told people not to flash unless they were crashing...you flashed and had a perfect golden card (over 1300) I don't know what you were thinking....I'd slap myself.

Yes, they whine. Had 2 tops. My current one whines less though. For me the perfect whine test is the splash screen with the credits AFTER you exit heaven benchmark (the one that says press esc to exit) and/or Crysis 1 menu (not the game, just the main menu in the game). Folding used too also but I havent tested with these cards.

So from 3 cards I had, the windforce, and 2 tops. The winforce had the least whine as I had to lean near my case to hear it. The top I had to rma had it loud. And my current top also has it but a bit less and only happens in those places I mention.

Go to techpowerup and re-download the original TOP bios and flash it back. Unless they took it down, which I doubt.

Thanks for the tip :-) I found the Original BIOS on techpowerup ...A couple of questions...

1.) Would it be O.K to revert back to old BIOS ? i.e Its not gonna brick the card or anything ?
2.) Which would be the best way to flash it ? As I just used Asus LiveUpdate previously and it automatically did everything. I know Asus LiveUpdate wont work again as I currently have the new BIOS.

Thanks for all your help :-)

Not sure anyone has flashed back yet. You might be the guinea pig.

I haven't flashed my vid card bios' since I had a 5870. Try searching the forums, I know there are some guides that show how to do em. It is a little bit more involved then the asus ez flash or w/e it is called that you did it with.

From what I remember, you will be making a bootable usb stick with the bios and a flashing utility.

Reverting to the old bios should not brick the card. Even if you did, all you would need to do is use your motherboard graphics( if you have it) or another vid card(if you have one) to unbrick, by reflashing again. It would only brick itself if your power went off during a flash. The guides should have the warnings and what to do if it happens anyway.

When I had my 5870 I flashed my bios about 8 or 9 times trying to find a bios that gave me the highest clocks possible. Never bricked it once.

On a side note: Has anyone encountered problems with Heaven with our gtx 670's? I'm completely stable in BF3 for 3+ hours of gaming with no crashes at higher clocks. If I go into heaven it results in a crash 1/2 way through. Starting to think Heaven is no longer a viable stability test.
