the reason is Kepler boost. headscratch.gif

The only variance would be the chip itself, whether it be a golden one or what not. If that is the case, and if there really isn't a binning proicess lol; wouldn't it be a better value for the dude who asked which one to buy; to buy the non-top? Esp. with the issues the TOPs originally had (though i hope the BIOS fixed it all).
it's always the same story with factory OC cards... most of the time you can achieve same clocks with non factory OC card. But if you knew all that why did you buy TOP card? I bought it because it was only like 5$ more expensive than non TOP so I said why not? it turned out to be good investment, 1280Mhz and stable, can't argue with that.

The kepler boost was supposed to boost it to 1137mhz from its stock clock of 1052mhz. Asus just messed up somehow in their calculations and it went to 1280mhz.

I was in the same boat as you, the expense for me was $19, I told myself why not too. However, it didn't work out too well for myself and some other cases. But I'm glad your top card turned out great. The pricing for the TOP cards vary depending on where you're from, and by some, a LOT! The guy asked for a quick answer, so yes i recommended the Non-Top from the experiences I have seen asofar on this thread. Can't really go wrong with it. I'm happy I'm able to get 1280 and save the cash for a fan or something.

Don't take it as im questioning your investment, I'm seriously glad you got a good TOP. The thing is, a good amount of us didn't and were kinda pissed. lol just check out the first twenty pages of this thread. It's depressing.

Does anyone else find the green LEDs on the power connections obnoxious? Well I do, does anyone have a good idea for a way to cover them without removing them or anything like that?

Permanent marker?
Cut up some black insulation tape to cover them?

Yeah guess I'll do that, the stuff is always so shiny though, I didn't want to do anything permanent becuase I might want to resell.

you could buy a matte black vinyl sticker and cut it up.

Hey guys. I'm planning to build a combined HTPC & (1080p-) gaming rig for my living room, and I'm wondering if the Asus 670 DirectCU II TOP is quiet enough to be used in a computer that half the time will be used for watching movies.

I'd really like the PC to be nearly inaudible. I'm prepared to make a custom sound-padded TV stand with muffled air in-/outlets if that what it takes, but as you know, fan noise isn't easily completely dampened. Is this card a good or bad choice?
I honestly can't hear the damn thing, even when I'm gaming the case fans / CPU cooler are more audible. Most of the time all I hear is the harddrives.
