OK, but the card throttles within 70-73C and then it speeds up - no throttling above 73C.

RMA update. It seems my card is ready to be shipped back, just have to update an address. I shipped my card on the 14th, so 16 days ago as of today.

At 70 C, core clock drops by 13 MHz. At 80 C, another 13 MHz. Once it drops once at 70, it won't drop again til 80 due to temps alone. It'll also throttle for power %, if it doesn't have enough voltage, etc.

The reason why I ask...as soon as MSI AB 2.2.3 came out, I tried +100mv for giggles on my NON TOP SLI....well let me tell you, my cards HATED IT...it stuttered like crazy and I probably lost a good 20fps righto ff the bat....very noticeable in BF3....another user on OCN decided to do the same thing I did to his NON TOP....he reported the same results....I don't think you should even bother going +100mv anyway unless you have a modded BIOS....which from the sound of it, you don't

I tried this but didnt help. I am not sure if it's driver related, Afterburner/Precision related or Hardware related. It feels like something went wrong with Software and stucked at that point. I am seriously considering resetting the bios, etc. Will this void the warranty? or flashing the alternative bios modes with volt. control.

Question for the 670 directcu owners here.

What kind of memory overclock are you guys getting?

Hardocp did a test with the 670 directcu vs 7950 and they couldn't get their directcu past 6.34ghz memory.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/08/23/galaxy_gtx_660_ti_gc_oc_vs_670_hd_7950/

This allowed the 7950 to edge past the directcu 670 in tests.

I personally think they have a bad card. My 670 FTW runs stable in Heaven, Metro 2033 bench and 3dmark11 at 7.60mhz. And comparing vs stock memory setting, I get anywhere from 8 to 15% extra FPS in those benches.

memory on this card generally overclocks good. mine went to 1780mhz easily. that wasn't the reason it lost though. core clock is. the 7950 is flat out faster once you hit 1080mhz or higher. especially if you can get one that will do 1150mhz or better, a 670 generally won't keep up in most games. I've had a good DC2 Top 670 that boosted to ~1250-1300mhz out of box and the card I'm using now is faster in every game I play except BF3. that's with 1180mhz core clock and I haven't used higher than 1550mhz on this 7950's memory..

how to RMA this card in Europe? Anyone did it before?
I'm starting to question my last 3d mark 11 score I got. I really wanted to get over 10k but didn't seem able to, but looking at other scores, people have much lower clocks score better, with the exact same hardware. I ran my 2500k at 5.254 ghz and gtx 670 at upper 1200mhz and there are people with cpu speeds of just 4.8ghz scoring higher... Is gpu just far more important in 3d mark 11 or are there people just getting like 1400mhz+ 670's? I would think me having a 450mhz cpu advantage would put me over some of the others.

Here is a link to my score. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4061995

Edit: Before anyone points out that is says 667mhz (1333mhz) for ram, I'm pretty sure I had it at 1885 (1866*101 blk) or 2154 (2133*101 blk), can't remember.

you get almost the exact same gpu score I got out of box on my 670: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/3638281

yes, gpu score is what matters. people with ivybridge and i7's get better physics scores and combined scores. what clock is your card running at in 3dmark11? my card got that gpu score running at 1260mhz, which it does at out of box settings in 3dmark11. your score does seem a little on the low side. cpu overclock or a better cpu (ivybridge) does impact the gpu score some.

The directcu 670 was right on the heels of the xfx black 7950 in those tests and it was 1195mhz for the 7950. Like I said, when I match the core clock and memory of the directcu in that test, I can still get anywhere from 10-15% more fps by increasing memory to an effective 7.6mhz.
