It seems to have a serious problem, not just with the 600 series. I've heard reports of 480s being pushed too high with that game as well. I don't know if it's GW2's fault or NV's fault.
proof.gif

I have logged about 100hours in GW2. I'll admit that I don't run my highest Heaven OC (1278 core and 7298 mem) but run 1268 core and 7198 mem. At my highest Heaven OC, the driver will crash after an hour of steady play or during a large dynamic event. Once I found my sweet spot for GW2, I can run my normal gaming length of 6~8 hours straight without issue. I have only recently (20 HOURS) running with vsync since I got this stable. Depending on the program, the stability of the driver will vary since all programs are not equal. 3DMark11 (default)In is easier on the card and driver and thus can support a higher OC. Why would you think that a program would be particularly at fault for the demise of the various GPUs?

Also I didn't have a DCU2T I had a non-top that I used Asus GPU Tweak to boost the clock / mem and set a custom fan profile.
It is pretty sad that people have been having issues since day 1 with this GPU. A 400 dollar component shouldn't be having issues like this.

After i lost my signal i flicked the switch on the psu waited a few seconds, unplugged both my monitors and plugged one in in a different dvi port. After i was up and reinstalled the drivers i plugged both monitors back in (the other using hdmi) and was working from there.

I put in an rma request with asus so i hope all goes well. Not likin some of the horror stories ive been reading though. Im not gonna be a happy camper if they send my card right back to me without any repairs. Especially since i'll be paying for the shipping there.

Doesn't constitute proof proper, but anecdotal evidence on these forums throughout and from a simple Google search:

Various solutions have been suggested from turning on VSync to turning on the in-game frame limiter.

I do not think it is a coincidence. If other non-ASUS cards have failed from running this game, it would suggest that the ASUS card isn't at full fault here.

Gauntlet, did you RMA the card?

One mistake I did was never check the temps of my video card when running GW2 -- I had a custom profile and heaven temps would reach 66 degrees. GW2 never crashed my nvidia drivers to desktop so I assumed everything was running perfect. I can't see how there were no safeguards in place to prevent this card going bad.

The RMA process is horrid -- I called them on Thursday to request advanced RMA -- The process would start when they send me a form via email where I give them my credit card and they ship me a replacement and I send my bad card to them. Never got the email or any emails. I called today and it turns out on Thursday they checked their inventory for a replacement and since they had none in inventory the next time they'll recheck is in 3 weeks. So basically I would have to wait 3 weeks for them to even make a request to check their stock to find me a replacement.

I spoke to a manager and he told me he will check the California location for me to see if they have any there and if he found one we'll do advanced RMA else I agreed to do the regular RMA where I ship mine in and they have 10 business days to repair it --- if they can't repair it they would have to send me a replacement (if in stock) or upgrade me.

I don't understand why this card has known issues and there is limited stock for them. I know this card is under a 3 year warranty but I don't see myself using this card for more than one year.

Then I would have to think that Crysis, Metro and other games that are brutal on GPUs would also cause this to happen.

they told me all sorts of crap (yes crap) and several reps I've spoken to outright contradicted each other with what they told me. I've been told they test thoroughly to see that a card is repaired even though I've been through two repairs and got the card back broken each time. when I got around to dealing with level 3 reps, the first guy told me they don't offer any upgrade/downgrade no matter what. the second guy told me the same and said that they can't even check around at other locations to see if they have it in stock (although two different asus employees did this for me so far) and finally a woman who sounded confused at what the others were saying told me that they do and that the card was in stock, that it had to be in stock for this very purpose and she would get me a replacement. the last rep aside, I am convinced that they tell you whatever the heck they gotta to get you off thee phone. if it weren't for that one useful rep and messaging grunion on this forum I dread to think how much worse my situation could be right now. and it's still been the whole summer without a working replacement. now the replacement it took months to get has seemingly dropped off the grid. I hope you fair better than me with rma.

well GW2 has some weird issues. I still get worse performance most of the time if my cpu is overclocked. though I still cannot discount the issues this card does have, because it does have some. I don't think I've seen a card die or stop showing video altogether just from playing this game.

Good news! I should have my new card back I think Wednesday! biggrin.gif Would have had it sooner if my mom had told me it was delivered though as I no longer live at home, so she has to ship it to me now. It's been a long month running just my old gtx 260 so I can't wait to get my new card. And yes it is a new card, they were not able to fix my old one. Hopefully I get a better clocking card as the last one I had wasn't the greatest. Would only do 1280mhz after volt modded bios.

I wonder if Guild Wars 2 is really like the new Furmark or if the cards are partially to blame for not being able to handle the abnormal stress. If other cards outside of the Asus DCII have failed from GW2 (be it reference, Gigabyte WF or MSI TF4) then I would not be so quick as to blame the cards.

You can cap frames at 60 (don't need to turn vsync on necessarily) and if you can, try Lucid Virtu MVP (or at least regular Lucid Virtu if not on a Z77 motherboard) - it really does add up in terms of diminishing GPU load and temperatures.

I had bought this video card 7 weeks ago on Amazon so I gave them a call to see if they could do anything. Their return policy was for 30 days. I explained to the rep Asus RMA process that was given to me and luckily he was a tech guy and knew all about these video cards and the issues it has. Amazon is sending me a RMA shipping label so I send it back to them for a refund.

So should I stick with another 670 or move up to a 680 or down to a 660?

Wow, that's A+ customer service.

Get the Gigabyte WindForce GTX 670. Seems to be the best combination of cooling/overclockability/quality out there right now. You could save $100 by going with a nice 7950 though, which would be a far better choice than a 660 (Ti).
