Probably just a drivers issue as you suggest.

I have gone from +1400 to 1260 and now on the 1330 maximum for stable play, in benchs I can upload some more, and all this according to the driver who had.

This is with the latest

Got a good deal on a regular 670 DCII. Had it for a few days before I realized the fans weren't fully functional and returned it. The card reached a base clock of 1045 MHz (~1215 MHz with max boost), which isn't bad, but below the stock clock of a TOP.

My advice is to get a TOP card. You're guaranteed to have a max boost of ~1250 MHz and can probably push it closer to 1300 MHz. If you're out of luck a regular DCII will get nowhere near 1200 MHz max boosted.

incorrect. I have a top, and have had it for awhile. It's never been able to do 1200+ stable.

Are you talking about the boost clock, as seen in GPU-Z? The dynamic boost gets added on top of that.

The card comes with a boost clock of 1137 MHz. With no overclocking that would be a dynamic boost of less than 63 MHz. That would be less than half of what these cards usually have.

I'm just simply talking about the speed at which my card runs. It never goes faster, stable, than 1163mhz

Hmm, I hate waiting (maybe that's why my money's always spent..).

If the "std" ASUS GTX670 is going for $400
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121637

And you suspect the Cherry Picked GTX670 will go for "$20 more..." ($420)

Just get the "Std" ASUS GTX680 today, for Only $60 more ($480)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121665

Or their Cherry Picked GTX680, for Only $30 more than that ($510)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121635

No doubt the GTX680 in Either flavor is faster than any GTX670. The triple slot cooler can't be beat for an Air Cooler. AND, you can order it TODAY.........

A decent GTX 670 will match the performance of a stock GTX 680 as a rule and also i have had 3 slot coolers before, The Asus Direct CU II GTX 580 and i wouldn't recommend going for another triple slot cooler as you will have problems if you ever want to SLI and a triple slot cooler just isn't necessary in my opinion for the GTX 600 series.

It was proved early on with the Asus Direct CU II GTX 670 Asus don't cherry pick their GPU's, they simply test with a mild overclock and mark them as a 'TOP' or OC model. They are usually no better than a standard card and in many cases they were actually worse overclockers.

I dont think the premium of the GTX 680 is worth it over the dual slot GTX 670

I think, but am not certain, that the dual-slot DCII in the 670 is actually an upgrade over the triple-slot DCII.

Look at the GTX 680 DCII 4GB. It uses the dual-slot cooler instead of the triple-slot one, and it is the most recent GTX 680 DirectCU II SKU. I hope going forward ASUS uses this for their cooler designs as it is cooler and even quieter than their triple-slot monstrosities (among other obvious advantages like space and SLI).
