I haven't tried moving it around another PCI-E slot. Could that be a possible fix?

Maybe, but perhaps a more logical troubleshooting step at this point would be to downclock the core speed slightly. That's what EVERYONE here who's crashing at stock speeds should be doing. That's how we find out if the issue is that the cards are just overclocked a bit too much, or if there's perhaps some other, actually 'worrying' defect.

A clock that's not stable at 1250 or whatever cause the kepler boost is too high is so easily remedied, I wouldn't send my card back because of it ... but I could maybe see why some folks would want to.

If the % of TOP owners having crashes at stock setting on this thread is a proper random sample (which I think it qualifies as) I have to say that Asus has a fairly major problem on their hands with the TOPs. Not that they'll do anything about it (except maybe send out a bios that drops the stock clocks a bit), and again, not that it's actually a big deal to those of us here who know how to deal with it, but ... to me it looks like around 10% of the cards are unstable at stock. That's awfully high IMHO.

In GPU-z my PCIe is actually changing between 1.1 and 2.0 as I sit here...

Anyway, I have to go to work so I'll be testing out more later. Down clocking is the obvious answer, but also time consuming. Like I've stated in a previous, my crashes are random (sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 20 minutes). But I do know it crashes it at "stock". I'll underclock 100mhz later and just leave on Unigine for a while.

I know it's not something you would want to do, but have you tried underclocking the card to try and get it stable?
Like lightsout mentioned I think Asus might not have done their Q&A thoroughly as it seems some cards are keplar boosting pass their capability at stock settings.

I did what you suggested (underclocking) and here are my results as it didn't crash in Heaven.

Nothing wrong with the PCIe changing esp. if you have a web browser up and running. It should stay at 1.1 when idle but sometimes random stuff on web pages will trigger it to bump up to full power.

I'm guessing you'll only need to downclock very slightly, like 10-20MHz, not 100MHz, to get stable though thumb.gif

Yeah it most definitely is the boost. Mine gets boosted to 1240. I down clocked it -10 to 1230 and it passes Heaven. Pretty sad that I have to downclock to get the card stable. I'm still thinking about RMAing it.

Glad you finally got it through Heaven without crashing.

Looks like your card is boosting to 1228 now and at stock it was 1243. As disappointing as that might be that's still a 91 OC from stock advertised speeds.

You can probably start inching back up to stock setting until it crashes again. At +45 I was stable but as soon as I went to +46 it started crashing Heaven, so even a 1MHz change can make a difference.

If you're gonna do anything, I'd return it to where you bought it. Asus is not know for an especially friendly RMA process. They're such a behemoth company ...
