Any way to replace cooling on a non-reference Visontek HD4850?

Thread Starter
I have this HD4850 in the AMD rig in my sig. The rig has been making some odd sounds, and I'm pretty sure it's the fan on the videocard. I'm going open up the rig later (taking the side panel off of that Lian-Li is a pain in the butt...) and unplug the videocard, booting the computer up with onboard video to make sure.

Anyway, in the event that my suspicion is correct and it is indeed the videocard, how would I go about fixing that? Are there any aftermarket coolers that would work with this card? I have a feeling that the answer to this will be no, seeing as it is not a reference card. If you guys have any ideas or tips about how I could get this card to stop making noise, please do share.

This is the card in question:
500

I've considered just buying a new videocard, but seeing as this is not my main computer and I'm fine with the performance of the HD4850 for this rig's purposes, it seems like a waste to just buy a whole new videocard.

Edit: Would the Arctic Cooling Accelero L2 Pro work?

Perhaps you can try to find out the fan manufacturer and see if you can get a replacement:-

1) Just take out the fan removing the fan cable and the 3 hold-down screws. See pic below.
450

2) Check the label behind
The pic below shows a fan taken from Colorful HD4850 (which is similar to yours)
450

When the fan is removed, perhaps you can also peel away the label and add a drop or two of lubricating oil and see if this can stop the noise.

Yes the Arctic Accelero L2 pro would work on your graphics card.

Go down to your local sewing store, and buy a little thing of sewing machine oil (should only cost ya less then $5). Do as windfire said and peel the sticker on the back only 1/2 way off to reveal the shaft in the middle. Put a little drop of the sewing machine oil on that shaft and spin the fan with your fingers a little bit to work it down in. Almost instantly you will see it spin more freely and smooth. Push the sticker back down and re-assemble onto your heatsink. It usually works as a short time fix depending on what you use for lubricant. From what I know sewing machine oil works the best as its not thick and can sustain high temperatures at high rpm's. Even some major business's do this trick with the fans in their servers to get 2-3 more months out of them. Some people get double the life span out of that single drop of oil.
