Use a fiberglass resin or a two part resin. Once its all dried up you can use a dremel or jig saw to cut the top of the towers out.

This would be the way that I would go. I have used this stuff before when making a fiberglass hood scoop for my car. All you would need would have to be a radius of the top of the stack and the bottom. Find the height and wrap with some light material. With the fiberglass there are two kinds. There is the matting which is ok to used when filling in areas and then there is the pre-woven stuff. I finds that this stuff works pretty well and can almost be molded when resin is introduced. It will be nice to see it when your done.

Unfortunately all my extra money that would go for parts and tools will be going to help my (newly asked) biggrin.gif fiance and myself move soon.
mega sad part is even once I move I'm not sure ill have a place to do some of these mods. Especially the painting. First thought was outdoors but the pollen is so high that I'm afraid that during dry time it will get into the paint.

first off thanks
second off. It might have a cool effect, it might make it look like crap. And since I want to use this ,and others, as a showpiece for a (very) longtime away dream job i want perfection.

Just got a $100 gift certificate to frozencpu for My birthday . This coupled with a move that's going to cost me less then expected means my build just got a kick to the pants.

Now to figure some stuff out. I'm going to be painting my case yellow. I'm NOT making it so shinny I can see my face. I'm looking at using some kryton brand spray paint for the bulk of it. The question is should I try and remove the factory paintjob on my 600t? There's no chips or scratches in it. I ask this because I read that the paint is already so well applied that its better then any base coat I could do. Is this true? Should I just take the simple route of painting over it? Or do I need to still use a primer of sorts?

I've read many guides on the actual painting process. As in lots of light coats, warm the can in hot water, paint past the end stuff like that. But I can't seem to find out if I NEED to remove the factory paint or no.

Thanks all! Expect an actual build log for this mid August. Maybe early September.

I like the concept. subbed for sure!
Congrates! Be sure to break in new wife properly by explaining that you will be soldering and sleeving on the new dining room table. My wife loves that.
She's still not a big fan when I'm buffing painted parts in the living room in front of the TV! rolleyes.gif

She refers to my computer as the other wife haha. I eventually hope to have a small shed outside for all my Modding needs. Untilled then its a very tall stanging "granite" table. So its a little beter but since its in the main room as well not by much. I'm really excited for this build. I can't wait until I'm moved so I can start!!!!!

so im going back and forth on if i want to bother with sleeving my cables in a UV sleeving or just leave them as is. as shown in my prior pics you don't see many wires and what wires you do see can probably be hidden more. Most of the cables are a really nice black but some of the adapters that i had to get are not. Since the PSU is older (older enough that ultra doesn't feature it on the website) im not sure that its worth doing it now if im just going to get a new one eventually. (that being said it is over 2 years old and running fine for a 600W.)

did think about getting some ither standard connectors and give them a coat of UV paint or get some prepainted ones. then i ran across this.
245

with its mated pair how would one go about installing this? is it as simple as it kinda appears or as complex as i expect?

moral of long story is there a way to get a nice sleeving that goes around all the wires at once. (i dislike the single wires. just more to get tangled)
