After 48 it looks fine. Me thinks you are too used to overly blue displays.

On the new retinas; no more need for AA at that pixel density so me thinks with no more AA you might not be taking an effects hit like everyone thinks. Assuming you have 2gb+ of vram.

I'm on a Dell U2312HM. It isn't overly blue, thank you.

Because the small image doesn't give as much justice.

The laptop will see the introduction of the “Mac Retina Display,” which is said to have a very high resolution. ABC News has similarly heard from its own sources that both the next MacBook Pro and the iMac would be getting very, very high resolution displays. Apple refreshed its new iPad with a Retina Display in March.
The 21.5-inch iMac would see a pixel count in the range of the 17-inch MacBook Pro as its 1920x1080 resolution would be bumped to 3840x2160, but the 27-inch iMac would move from its current resolution of 2560x1440 to a monster Retina display at 5120x2880. The same panel could also be used in a revised Apple Thunderbolt Display should hardware be able to support the resolution.
Source
I'll have a hard time waiting to buy this if the high end 27 inch model has a 5120x2880 resolution... Tough job for a 7970M to handle that resolution though tongue.gif

The question, is why would they do this? I have a 27" 2560x1440 iMac, and cannot see individual pixels, it's "retina" already. What would they gain from this?

This is nuts. What can support that res?

Dual dual-DVI links? Or can DP carry that res?

Graphs mean everything. Color quality and accuracy are completely quantifiable. And the iPad 3 aced these tests.

Plus, I have a calibrated HP ZR30W display at home and I often work around even better and more expensive displays, and the iPad 3 looks much closer to the tint of very high-end 10-bit IPSes than any mobile display I've ever seen.

I'll leave you these:

Thunderbolt will be able to support them. Not sure about "dual dual-DVI" or DP though.

The screen's still yellow. It cannot produce white without a tinge of yellow.

These graphs are completely indicative of the color representation of these devices. As I said before, everything(such as the color accuracy, gamut range, tracking, brightness, constrast, etc) can be measured, and we can calculate how accurate these displays are. I don't know what is hard to understand...

Also, all other mobile devices produce white with a blue-ish hue, the iPad 3 is warmer and so in comparison it appears yellow, but in reality, next to the professionally calibrated high-end 10-bit IPS monitors, even the iPad 3 is slightly bluish. So in conclusion mobile displays are all too cool in tint, and the iPad 3 makes a huge step towards fixing it.

It's still yellow. I don't know what's so hard to understand. Everything, such as the color accuracy is tainted by that yellow, no matter how indicative your graphs are, the colors would still be somewhat affected.

Did I mention the screen produces yellow instead of white? So what color does it use to produce yellow?
