[MacRumors] Retina Displays Also Coming to Next-Generation iMac? - Page 5

5120x2880 at 27"? Yes, please. All they need to do is revise a new version of DP to support 5120x2880 resolutions at 60hz and we will be good to go. This is just another reason to phase out DVI and go almost exclusively HDMI or DP. I'm looking at you NVIDIA. If the price is right I'd jump on a display like this in a heartbeat.

HDM....

HDBS! You can't 120HZ or 1600P out of that crap.

This thread is pretty silly.

If a manufacturer OTHER THAN Apple was making this, you guys would be all like "Yay, so cool. Ridiculous DPI screens FTW."

It does white just fine. Unless you own one yourself, you've nothing to offer on this matter.

Seriously, this derailment is amusing but is irrelevant by means of redundancy. Notice the side-by-side shots and overwhelming praise. But please, do go on about uncalibrated snapshots from kids on random internet forums.

Moving on, I'm still betting on the new "retina" iMacs and Macbooks using Sharp's IGZO tech, with its greater power efficiency and manufactory ease. The tech is supposed to be competitive with IPS (which is why it was originally meant for the iPad 3). If Apple does make this move, the prospect of IPS-level ultraportables sure does make me want to upgrade my own laptop sooner than I was planning.

The quality on models sent to reviewers don't necessarily translate to how well the particular one you're buying is made. The yellow screen is a fact. No amount of sugar can coat that. Hmm. Yellow sugar. Yuck.

The only ones who got review units were the ones who released the early reviews; that's how Apple works. None of the articles I linked to were review units.. You can email them if you don't believe me. I'm sure Anand, at the very least, would immediately respond to questions about his articles' integrity.

Ignorance, yuck.

Laugh. The "good" new ipad is still yellowish.

Also.

When was it released? April 16 2012, right? The Apple store was open at midnight and he tested for 10 minutes? Interesting.

And I'm pretty sure any reputable site would have what they're reviewing sent by the manufacturer days before release. Hence NDA protocol.

Gaming is for PCs.
You can game on anything that plays games...
Steam has been on OS X for some time now.

For what? A much higher price, initial lower quality displays (have you seen how washed out the iPad 3 is?), more power draw, etc.
