Has anyone successfully folded with a GTX 460 SE?

Thread Starter
I've been scouring the interwebs and I have yet to find a clear answer to this. I found it on CL for $50, and I'm looking to add it into the Chimpin Challenge. I know with my GTX 460 768mb I had to use the 266.58 drivers to fold, but those drivers refuse to detect this particular card. Any thoughts?

Thanks

try some of the newer drivers then. But it should not be a problem at all. I fold on the regular 460s and they are great for the PPD/$. The SEs are nice because they are cheaper and produce pretty much the exact same points. The amount of ram makes little to no difference for GPU folding

I've tried several between 266.58 and the most recent, none will allow folding

What client are you using, and what exactly is the problem you are encountering? There shouldn't be any reason why the 460 SE wouldn't be able to fold.

im not quite sure that my card is a 460 se but its the 768 mb version and seems to fold great with the latest drivers. I get around 15k ppd. Good luck:thumb:

I had two EE's in my i7 build, they ate WU's for breakfast, so yeah they can fold.

Checked your client/drivers?

Its the v7 client, and I've used the 296.10 drivers (the most recent) and several drives before and none will let me fold. The system loose all responsiveness while folding, or folding makes no progress.

try either the 290.53 or the 301.24 beta. It sounds like your problem isn't the thing isn't folding but that it makes your system unresponsive when it folds. I've come across that occasionally, but unfortunately the only thing I've found that's a sure fire fix for it is a clean OS. You could also try turning off hardware acceleration if it's happening in certain programs like firefox, but if it's general desktop slowness then only thing I've found that works is an OS reinstall. You could also try running driver sweeper and starting from a clean slate as far as drivers go, that may help and is easier than a clean OS.

I have had nothing but issues with my gtx 460 as well as my buddy I tried the 4 newest drivers and none were fully cooperative. My system would become unuseable would crash when folding finished and would also fail every finish at times so I don't even bother anymore.

Again this is 2x evga fpb 1gb 256bit gtx460s gluck and plz update with any good news

Edits - I haven't tried the 290.53s maybe I will and this was on a very fresh win install but haven't reformatted to attempt to fixflding
