Noctua NH-D14 problem

Hi guys.

Just finished building a lovely PC for a mate, but i have a problem with the Noctua NH-D14's fans.

I plugged them into the 2 CPU cooler fan headers on the Asus Maximus V Gene, but even when the system is powered off, the fans keep spinning. The only way to stop the fans is to pull the plug from the PSU.

Is there an easy fix, where i need to install ASUS AI Suite, or is it a problem with the motherboard?

Thanks.

Have you tried plugging them into diff plugs? Maybe the motherboard is thinking they are USB biggrin.gif If that does not work, try a Bios Update!

Well, yea ok, maybe i should have tried to plug em in elsewhere, but i really wanted 'em in the ideal location, since they are cooling the CPU wink.gif

A BIOS update is a good idea indeed, will try once i have the time, thanks! smile.gif

The Noctura should have come with a Y cable so you can hook up both Fans to one MB header... have you tried that?

That's not going to fix the original problem of why the fans are still powered up even when the computer is supposedly powered down.

@Mcbeer, I am very interested in this as well, I don't think I have ever heard of this happening before. I am with the Russian here, in that the only thing I could think of is perhaps there is a bug in the BIOS and an update might fix it. But even then, that's still a really strange problem to have. Are any other fans powered up, or is just the fans plugged into the CPU headers on the motherboard?

See thats the "funny" part, i hooked up 2 Noctua NF-F12PWM located in the front of the chassis to the motherboard as well, but they stop just fine once the system is powered off.
We will try to update his bios via skype/teamviewer tonight, just to see if that will help with the CPU fans, and hopefully also fix the issue with the overclocking it had as well, but i havn't explored all the known options that i know of yet, but who knows, i might need your help on that matter too wink.gif
