CM Storm Sentinel Advance 2 Once over

I am a writer for www.gamersedge.co.uk, i dont typically post here as these forums usually already have all of the information, but i wanted to post some thoughts on the advance 2 with avago 9800 sensor.

The Sensor

It has up to 8200 DPI in 200 DPI steps from 200 - 8200. 150 IPS with 30G acceleration.

The Mouse

8 buttons, on the fly DPI changes, multiplier button for double the physical number of buttons. Weigth tray with 5 x 4.5g to be removed. OLED screen for viewing DPI.

424

Testing

Setup - CSS, Raw input, this was mainly to see if the positive acceleration was gone.

556

Results - I couldnt feel the positive accel like on the 9500 sensor at 400 DPI, i have used that sensor for a long time as my main mouse and can usualy tell instantly when a mouse has it. The results i got showed the sensor seems to be a lot more stable than the 9500, except when you started going up the DPI scale. Check out the video below for my results, but basically, at 8200 DPI, the sensor malfunctions.

I will be putting up a full review in the next couple of days, but i wanted to get some feedback about the video and if anyone had any questions.

As far as I'm concerned, Avago hasn't released an update to fix the positive acceleration issue involved with the DIP-16 architecture. CM likely wouldn't be the first to have it implemented either smile.gif

Try testing closer to a wall?

PS: There's a reason why the Sentinel looks better in paint, but I don't know if I should say anything at this moment.

I did some more testing at close up to the wall, saw some positive accel, not as much as the 9500 sensor though, but there is some there. I would say the 9800 is around half as much positive as the 9500.

Why does the sentinel look better?

Cant quite say. The sensors (A9500 and A9800) only really differ from the uploaded read only memory.

I would rather see if you could detect it before telling you.

Edit: There's also at least one issue that needs to be addressed. Your mouse was likely flashed and sent out before a fix came.

If there is anything else you can think of that you want tested on this mouse, let me know. I used to use the G500 as my main mouse before the Zowie AM, so having come from that, i will say the Sentinel is a better mouse, even with the slight amount of PA, though i think i got used to it.

Anyone else have a chance to try this mouse out yet? I'm loving my Xornet and Spawn and I'm curious how good this one is. Are the sides of this mouse rubbery and grippy, or is it smooth plastic?
