[TH] Elder Scrolls MMO Story 100% Solo - Page 6

Zen isn't going to give up at this point but I'd like to be a fly on the wall in the meeting rooms. Especially the meetings where its brought up that the VAST majority of established ES fans disapprove and won't be coming near this game.

Good luck trying to repackage Everquest II with an ES name to a new audience Zen. But save the random "why fans should play this" interviews on the blogs.

Real fans will never play beyond checking it out. Good job Beth. You just Jar Jar Binks'd your best selling franchise in the interest of the suits greed.

I'll try to reserve judgment because Bethesda does seem to be trying to not destroy the game's core experience. Problem is, I don't care how much of the game can be done solo; the moment I'm exposed random strangers in any capacity is the moment my little fantasy world becomes a swimming pool at the YMCA.

I expect 100s, if not 1000s, of battle hardened warriors desperately fighting off a huge dragon in the middle of a humongous "Imperial City". You cannot possibly give the illusion of a city if only one person is going to fight a war in the middle of it.
This is why I loved Final Fantasy XI. You solo'd for maybe the first 8 levels. If that, hell it was better if you grouped up early. Once you hit 8-9, you began to realize you would be put in your place by these monsters (even the tiny wimpy looking ones) if you were not in a group at least 3+ people. And there was not one story-based mission you could do on your own without either getting your rear handed to you, or doing anything remotely interesting. Sure, that meant the game was extremely hard unless you had a decent group of people who were willing to work together. But, that did not stop people and anyone who got the chance to experience it praise the game to high hell because it was simply that fantastic.

Mehrunes is not a dragon.... http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Mehrunes_Dagon

Mehrunes Dagon is the Daedric Prince of Destruction, Change, Revolution, Energy, and Ambition.

Also only part of the game is solo only.

nothing good will come of this. they should try adding multiplayer support to morrowind before trying to create another mmo rip-off.

My god... this post is EXACTLY the mentality that will destroy the gaming industry. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't ever do this. Buying games without criticism is what leads to awful, featureless, cookie-cutter games released every year. If you buy everything, what motivation do they have to put effort into it? "Real fans" shouldn't buy games that don't interest them just because they like the brand name. Those are called "fanboys" and they are bad for everyone, in every industry.

Besides, you should easily see why people are upset if you actually know anything about TES. Why do people like the series? Every modern game in the series is a singleplayer, kinda actiony combat, huge open world, offline, broken balance, customizable (like spell making, except skyrim) great modding platform. These things are pretty much the exact opposite of an MMO. The elder scrolls fans are upset because this is nothing the like the games they like and want more of, and the MMO fans are upset because it doesn't sound like a good MMO either.

LOL, people blindly buying games is not going to destroy the gaming industry. In fact the gaming industry needs a whole lot more people like that considering it's been contracting since 2008 and no one is really making any money.

are-you-serious.jpg

Blindly buying video games based on hype leads to better hype and worse video games. Why would a company put out a good product when they can cut costs in half, spend a little bit on mass marketing to hype it up, then reap huge profits?

They are already doing this and if you don't think so you are sadly mistaken.

The end of the gaming industry won't come at the hands of the companies who make the games but the faceless masses that purchase said games that aren't of quality. It will lead to a path where developers stop listening to what the customer wants and start making what they think will make the most money.

This is one reason why I love place like kickstarter. You can literally invest in something you want to see get done based on ideas presented to you, not shoved down your throat.

The industry today is the equivalent to offering a starving person a week old piece of pizza. Yeah it's freaking gross, but if you are hungry enough you are gonna eat it.
