Problems with Hard Drive- did i loose all my data?

So I have a hard drive and it worked fine on a mac. When I plugged it into my new PC (windows 7) it would recognize but not show up in my computer. I looked up how to solve it and help make my computer find it and I created a new format/partition and now it says there's no data on it at all.
How can I erase what I've done but not loose any of my original files??
Ultimately, will I be able to see all my original files on my computer?

Unfortunately these files are not backed up, so I can't loose them. I can't save them now before doing any either because my computer cannot find/access them anywhere.

Please please help me!

A simpler way to look at it:
I have a lot of important files on the original hard drive (no partitions/volumes etc). I created a new volume and can't access my old files. Can I get them? How can I? OR-if I delete the volume, will all the old files still be there?
The problem is I cannot navigate/access the files on my computer, only see that their is an external drive in my Device and Printers.

Download partition magic,see if you can get partition back.What software did you use to make the new partition?

If it was used on a mac before, it may be formatted to HFS, which windows doesn't recognize out of the box. You would need a copy of macdrive for that.

Your files haven't necessarily been overwritten, but the partition data certainly has.

If you have super important files on the drive, you should do one of two things.

1) Go to a professional data recovery place. The cost will be $1000+, but if you need them all back, you'll have to pay it and learn to make backups next time.
2) Get another drive and clone everything over, so that you can't screw things up worse. Yes, you can clone drives without filesystems - there's a handy linux tool called DD which can duplicate one drive to another.

I'd say at this point your best bet is TestDisk. It may be able to recover the partition if HFS stores that info in a different place than Windows overwrote. Delete the partition off the drive and run TestDisk - see what it finds.

If they both store that info in the same place, then TestDisk will only find the newer partition, and your only option is to do a deep scan of the drive and manually recover files.

There is one other possibility - if you delete the NTFS partition and format it with your Mac to the same filesystem it had, then delete that partition - TestDisk may be able to repair the partition.

Or not.

If you try that, definitely do #2 first. (Get another drive and clone everything...) Messing with partitions like that could overwrite more and more data, leading to less and less being recoverable with tools like PhotoRec, or by professional data recovery places.
